Magic Dock — Is it finicky?

I read about magic dock on this forum and decided to try it on a trip. After four tries it recognized my car and did not have a charging default. I read using the app was best. Is there a trick to it or is this just the way it is? I almost gave up.

I have used the Magic Dock twice and had difficulty finding a dispenser that would release the adapter. Since then, I have read that you have to push the adapter up into the fixture to get it to release.

Push the button firmly and then push the handle into adapter til it clicks, then pull. Just like you said.
