Life journeys bring on changes. Just when you feel you have it figured out, conjunctures throw you off balance….
I truly fell in love with my Mache EV with no complaints. Maybe just one, giving it up. It will find its way to a new owner to enjoy. I really didn’t want to let it go, it’s bittersweet. Currently, it made no common sense balance to keep this beautiful, awesome, fun riding vehicle after 1 short year. In making this decision, it was months thought out, with no sense of urgency, till I did.
Let me explain….. I will be making alot more long distance travels. The infrastructure isn’t in place to give me comfort. Ultimately, this dilemma would extend duration of travel time, possibly shady charger area stops (you don’t know till you arrive) and charger not up to par (possibly at dark) along my way. For example; chargers from Columbus to and thru W. Virginia impossible to strategically think about or plan. I always consider safety, dependability and comfort when traveling. These 3 words bring my comfort level to local driving and with no more than 200 mile trip to and 200 back. Months of cold weather temps are hell on these wheels for the batteries. I get it; I don’t like the cold either!
Let me elaborate on the EV system in short…..
(This is fact) Our Ohio governor has put a $200 annual tax on EV’s. He is now considering another $150 for annual fee registration, on top of that. Oh, don’t forget the license sticker for an additional $56. What’s the math configuration on this? Not everyone drives the same mileage. I’m not opposed to sharing the cost of roadways, but it must be fair. It’s targeting fuel efficient vehicles. This must be rectified.
(my opinion) This alone would discourage a consumer from buying an EV, period. Our governor certainly doesn’t care about an eco- friendly environment. I have to call it out what it is. Well, I’ll let you be the judge. Moving forward to change consumer’s mind set on EV’s:
1) convenience, expansion and faster charging stations
2) better and longer mileage batteries
3) we’ll lite charge areas
4) all electric companies have reduced rates for home charging, (since most charge is from home base) I fell into this category (my rate? same 24/7)
I did have this conversation with my AEP electric company. (Yeah, don’t count on it)
This story ends perfectly….
I stayed loyal to FMC brand bringing with it over 30 years of past purchases. I replaced my Mache with the comeback Bronco; yes White! My trade interest at heart was the Maverick hybrid -as to- stay in the eco-friendly mode hence, not available to order or buy. I couldn’t wait on a vehicle change like I did with the MEV. Seeing the ME crossover become a hybrid option, keeping same design and exhilarating blood pumping thrills could be a solution. A solution to many, many years it will take to build the infrastructure.
As I close…..
I’m smiling in the parking lot of my favorite dealership (Rousch) in front of my ME and my fur baby who enjoyed the thrill of the ride also.
Happy driving and travels to all Mache owners, ICE or EV. To all the curious stalkers who road along my car side and who circled around my mustang while parked., Glad you loved my car, you should buy one!
As I settle into my new adventures and chapter, I’ll peak on the forum to stay in touch with what’s new. I wish to have a 3rd mustang in the near future.
I’ll miss my Stallion…..
Thanks for reading.
