I took my son and dog on a short road trip to do some hiking this weekend, and figured it would be a good opportunity to test our new Premium SR RWD (LFP battery). Ideal conditions (sunny, mid-70s, dry, calm) to check the efficiency, potential range, and charging characteristics.

Left home at 100% and drove about 60 miles to a hiking trail north of Greensboro, NC. Combination of interstate and rural highways, with a speed ranging from 60-75 mph (most of the mileage above 70 mph). At key milestones (75% and 50% SOC) I was tracking right on a 250-mile range, which is the EPA range for this model. I took a longer route home, favoring the interstates to increase my average speed, and ended up with 153 miles driven at a 40% SOC, which is an implied range of 255 miles (although the GOM @ 40% SOC implied only 243 total miles). My efficiency for the day was 3.5 mi/kWh. I'm pretty happy with the result, as it compares favorably to my larger-battery BMW i4 (81 kWh useable), which gets only 250-260 reliable highway miles from a full SOC.

DCFC charging: I charged at an EA station from 40% - 69% to get a snapshot of the charging curve. I started at about 130 kW at 40%, and slowly tapered through 120 kW @ 50%, then down to 115 kW by 65%. At 69%, I dropped to 86 kW. No complaints or surprises there. The battery was preconditioned using the native nav system (I set the EA station as a destination about 45 minutes out)

BlueCruise 1.3: Since this is a 2023.5 build, I am assuming I have BlueCruise 1.3 installed based on what I've heard on this forum. I love the functionality, and the lane changes work pretty well (although they become inexplicably unavailable on some stretches of highway). Lane keeping is ok, but still not perfect. Ping-ponging isn't as pronounced as earlier versions, but I can still feel it. It didn't disengage on any curves, so that's an improvement. It's still better than almost anything else out there (yes, it's better than Tesla autopilot). With its minor faults, I still felt very safe and confident with BlueCruise enabled.

Great review, thank you! Possible for you to verify that it's indeed BC 1.3?

How is the suspension- any motion sickness from your passenger?

Suspension seems just fine. Honestly, it’s pretty similar to my 2021 AWD ER. My wife doesn’t complain about it, although she’s just getting to know the car. The kids and furry passengers all seem to like the ride.

I also believe the arrows on either side of the car icon are an indicator of lane change availability which is only comes with 1.3. I do not have the arrows yet.

Come on Ford, it's October already 🤨.
