Octopus has not been producing a charging schedule for me for a couple of months. When I called Ford they told me that they no longer allow third parties to schedule a charge in order to protect a customer’s data. I now have to manually start a charge at 11.30 pm. Is anyone in the UK still able to get scheduled charging from their Octopus App?

I am very new to the Mach e (1 week of ownership) but can't you simply set the car to charge when connected at home during certain times via the fordpass app automatically?

I've only charged via a commercial charger but get the option on the fordpass app to charge when plugged in or to set a schedule per charger, so different schedules can be set for different chargers

Yes you can. But the advantage of the octopus intelligence app was that it sometimes set the charging schedule before the standard 11.30pm start time which meant that all your electricity cost only 7p per kWh earlier which was beneficial for washing machines, electric heaters etc. I set the time now using my pulse Wallbox app as FordPass only has start times on the hour.

Does this mean that the OVO charge anytime tariff would now only work with there compatible EV chargers as they can no longer access the Mach E itself?

mine worked fine last night with octopus IO but I have told Ford months ago When I was having a few issues that I have given my permission for the third party to access my Ford account and that Ford should remove any blocks from my account.
I did also tell them that they should ask the customer before blocking anything to see if this is the case maybe worth another phone call and find the correct department

Any joy with Ford yet?

I haven't chosen my EV charger yet but don't really want the Indra(massive thing) or Ohme as only 4g, no WiFi concerns me as nobody knows how long 4g will be around (7 years, 10, 20 who knows) and then the charger will become dumb and probably not compatible with EV tariffs.

If Ford are removing or have removed API access for third parties such as energy companies they really should let people and energy suppliers know.

I won't get any value from octopus intelligent as the day rate hike will probably destroy any EV charging saving at the reduced rate for me. OVO charge anytime makes far more sense for my usage

I called Ford and spoke to a manager. They started by telling me 3rd parties have no access. They then made reference to a Ford EV charger which I don’t have. I told them again I have a Wallbox pulsar plus and they then said that is ok as it’s the Ford charger that does not allow 3rd Party connections. So mine should work but still doesn’t.

So typically as usual Ford are clueless. Looks like I will be going for the Ohme epod, hopefully 4G will be around for a while yet.

I also thought that Octopus supported the Wallbox Pulsar they could control charging via the EV charger rather than the car? I like to think of myself as a fairly tech savvy but this EV business is a complete car crash.

Trying to get my head around all this before I buy the wrong EV charger!
