I’ve noticed a pretty big efficiency hit when driving in the rain, especially at highway speeds. The range display on the dash used to err on the side of caution and tended to underestimate your range based on your recent driving habits. For whatever reason, Ford changed it a while back. Now it is optimistic to the point of severely overestimating range until your battery level drops a bit.Started at 100%. The car reported 2.1 miles per kw. 90% hands free(no foot) so set to 75 but more like 65-70 average with light traffic. Raining most of the way.
When you enter a destination, it uses the weather, terrain, traffic, and your driving habits to get a much more accurate range estimate. So the drop you saw when you entered your destination was the car going from a wild ass guess to what should be a fairly accurate estimate. When we do road trips, we usually let the car add charging stops, but we use Google or Apple Maps to actually get directions to the chargers because Ford’s navigation tries to follow some bizarre routes.
