Just thinking out loud on this one.

Have had three significant paint chips (all to bare metal), on the hood in less than 6 weeks of ownership. None of them were from impacts I heard while driving (my daily commute is only about 10 miles round trip). Anyone have any luck trying to do a warranty claim on the hood paint yet? Is it worth trying to get it repainted under a warranty claim?

I have zero chips anywhere else on the car. I have been paying close attention when drying after washing to try and catch them so I can get touch up on them.

In short, no. Warranty isn’t paying for rock/debris chips. If you want to avoid the paint chips all over the front of your MME you’d do well to consider having a PPF from 3M, Xpel or similar applied to protect your paint. Just have the existing chips corrected properly first. I’ve the installed 3M Pro PPF on a couple of our vehicles and I recommend self-install of the pre-cut kits to those who are reasonably confident in diy type stuff with straightforward instructions.

Agreed. Rock/stone chips aren't covered under warranty. Believe it or not, your own vehicle can throw a stone forward and have it bounce up and chip your paint. I have seen rocks come up onto the hood of our Jeep Wrangler and it is the only vehicle around for miles.

I hate chips in the paint as much as the next guy but it is unavoidable I am afraid. I have friends who spent $20k-$30k on a custom paint job and then $5k-$6k on full PPF wrap and still end up with damage from road debris. I think it is a bit of an unrealistic expectation to have a daily driver and not expect some damage. Hopefully it will be very minor and occur infrequently.

I had a few chips on front fascia from driving 85 on the nj turnpike my commute is an hour. Got star white touch up from dealer and went to a reputable shop that wraps cars. They had the perfect product which was a clear wrap. I had the front and hood wrapped for $1300. They also used the touch up paint to fix chips before the wrap. Looks great . Wish I put this wrap on the car right after delivery

Do you have a recommendation on where to get PPF done in Jersey?
