Hi all. Has anyone replaced a side mirror with a salvaged part? I have found one from a local salvage but they cannot say whether the salvaged part will be plug n play. It has a label with the VIN from the salvaged car which I wonder if it will create some sort of "unrecognized" problem.

The other possible issue is that I know that at least with some other car brands even if you replace a part like that there is some sort of calibration/programming that needs to be done or whenever e.g. you put in reverse the braking assist will throw an error or you may not get the Birds Eye view.

Any advice if someone has experience would be VERY much appreciated as this would save me >$1k

ALSO in terms of DIY - I know I need to remove some interior parts to do this replacement but I am having trouble finding any kind of guide.

As long as the used mirror has the same options as your old one does (power fold, BLIS indicator, side camera), you should be good. ??

You may just need to get the camera calibration performed

Well, I am getting the part shipped from the salvage.

I found a DIY link in another thread and to get to the mount point for the side mirror you have to remove the interior door panel and the interior panel above it that follows the top of the door/window frame all the way down to the mount point.

Rather than breaking my own interior panels trying to get them off, I phoned the local dealership to ask if they have any issue installing with a salvage part I bring to them and they said not a problem, so I am gonna pay them to do the work, to avoid potential headaches. They said it should just plug n play. I will update whether this goes smoothly or not...
