Happy Friday, how involved is it to pull and translate on board computer data on the MME if I want to show that I was at a dead stop at a particular point in time?

While the vehicle pumps a ton of data to Ford, I don't know that it retains any location data onboard. You might have mor luck in pulling that data off your phone.

I’m guessing this is related to an accident investigation?

Here is some info from the web- https://georgiaautolaw.com/black-box-data-recorders-in-cars-everything-you-need-to-know/

Short answer- I would bet the cost to retrieve this data exceeds the deductible on your insurance though. Unless it’s a criminal investigation, I wouldn’t think the juice would be worth the squeeze.

More info on the ā€œevent data recorderā€ from another Ford-

https://www.fordservicecontent.com/...A&div=f&vFilteringEnabled=False&buildtype=web

Now how you access the data? I dunno.
ā€œTo read data recorded by an event data recorder, special equipment is required, and access to the vehicle or the event data recorder is needed. In addition to the vehicle manufacturer, other parties, such as law enforcement, that have such special equipment, can read the information if they have access to the vehicle or the event data recorder. Ford Motor Company and Ford of Canada do not access event data recorder information without obtaining consent, unless pursuant to court order or where required by law enforcement, other government authorities or other third parties acting with lawful authority. Other parties may seek to access the information independently of Ford Motor Company and Ford of Canada.ā€

I know it's too late now, you may find it useful to invest in a dashcam in case of any future incidents where there might be some doubt. In my opinion all cars should have dashcams built in. There is the obvious manufacturer that shall not be named that does.

I do this all the time and it’s a shame we’re not closer or I’d do it for free for you.

You’d need an independent collision investigator equipped with either the Bosch CDR or Collision Science Crash Scan equipment.

you could buy the Collision Science kit which is not too expensive at c$150 but you’d then have to buy the data downloaded by their kit for c$350

The Bosch CDR download is free but only after the investment of over $5,000 for that kit!

On the assumption the trigger threshold for recoding a non-trivial event was met by either the deployment of a non reversible SRS component, a reversible SRS component or a speed change usually in the order of 5mph in 150 milliseconds when the car would not necessarily need to have been discernibly moved, there should be some crash data, and more importantly for you Pre-crash data, in the event data recorder which resides in the airbag control module.

Pre-crash data, in my experience of Ford data, includes 5 seconds of a number of lines of data sampled at 0.2sec intervals from 5 seconds pre-crash to time zero including vehicle speed, throttle & brake application, motor speed, steering angle, gear selector position etc.

If it really matters might be worth paying for.

Let me know how you get on, I’d be interested.
