Riding along then BANG

Just riding along, singing a song then BANG. I looked out at my passenger side mirror and I saw the rear view mirror hanging by a wire and the top half shell missing. Apparently I was assaulted by a garbage can that hit my mirror. I saw the top shell lying on the ground and retrieved it. Not knowing what to do I pushed the mirror back into the case and snapped the top shell back on the mounting. I started to have nightmares about bringing it into a dealer with all the delay and expense.
But when I got home I tested it and it worked fine. The mirror rotated perfectly within the shell. The shell itself goes up and down while the mirror revolves 360 degrees. The blind spot lights worked as well. The shell retracted as usual when parked. There were some scuff marks but they were easily wiped off. Whoever designed this one device was a genius!

Good to know!

The side of our garage has attacked multiple mirrors on multiple cars when my wife is driving.

I wonder if this trick still works in reverse. ?

I take it you bought a powerball ticket after it all went back together!

Of course not. The Mega million is a much bigger prize. Drawing is tomorrow night. If I win I can afford to get rid of the MME and get a

I love how the MME drives and rides and the convenience of charging at home at a greatly reduced rate. But I think Ford will abandon the MME and it will be impossible to find a dealer still willing and equipped to service, not to mention dwindling resale value. Current range limitations and public charging difficulties make me wish for my dream car - a hybrid MME with a 100 mile battery range and a 500 mile total range. That is my 3 cents.
P.S. - I think the garbage can that struck was a recyclables can.

I am ashamed to admit that it does. Despite a litany of cursing as I couldn’t avoid a non-moving garage frame with umpteen thousand cameras and sensors, the side view mirror survived the encounter and I followed the OP’s process to the letter.

I had the exact same BANG happen to me a few weeks ago, but I was side swiped by a deer. I saw it head squished on my driver-side window. I was only doing about 45mph, stopped to assess the damage and can you believe it, the deer didn't stick around, and I had to report it as a hit and run.

The outer skin needs to be replaced on the driver door and the back door. It is scheduled at a local body shop in a few weeks.

Now I have PTSD when driving at night now.

Lucky you didn't get cited for hunting without a license. ?
