IMHO it is a good thing that they're giving up on hydrogen. It actually takes more energy to extract it - and at a significant cost in CO2. The oil companies like it because it gives them a way to keep the current paradigm, but it's a false solution.

I thought they were all leases with no purchase option.

Yeah, before I decided to go BEV I was eyeballing the Mirai. There were just too few light duty hydrogen stations, even in the Bay Area to make any sense out of it. I certainly could not take it duck hunting like I do with the MME. I would end up stranded.
