SSM 51610 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E - High Voltage Battery Tray Minor Damage Inspection And Repair/Replacement Procedures Now In The Workshop Manual

Some 2021-2023 Mustang Mach-E vehicles may experience minor damage to the high voltage battery (HVB) tray as a result of coming contact with road debris and/or other outside influences. Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 414-03A has been updated to include new topics for inspection, repair and replacement of the HVB tray. These new topics should be used to help determine severity of damage and an appropriate repair direction for the HVB tray. If inspection per the WSM determines that the HVB tray requires replacement, the HVB battery trays for standard and extended range have been released for service as a lower cost repair option. Standard range HVB tray - LJ9Z-10732-E. Extended range HVB tray - LJ9Z-10732-D. When an HVB tray is replaced, a new high voltage battery serial number label must be obtained as directed in the WSM and installed in the location indicated.

----End SSM----

Previously damage to the battery case (such as by a careless tow operator) would require complete battery replacement ($30k). Now just the outside case can be replaced and the existing cell modules are transferred over, which results in a significant cost savings.
