Status Bar Battery Icon

I had the battery icon showing in the status bar , then disappearing today. Don't remember seeing it before.

Possibly an indication that the 12V battery is being charged as I drove??

Anyone out there that can enlighten me?

Well, I have discovered a newer version of the manual. I tend to use the downloaded manual on my computers and iPad. It actually expands potential content in the Status Bar, including the mobile phone battery icons.
