This is a really terribly implemented feature. I'm surprised Ford hasn't taken steps to redesign it as it continues to surprise and scare new owners.
They did redesign it and this is what we got! They need to revert the design.

This is very common on the Nazi Tesla autopilot and FSd as well. It’s fantastic when you are cruising on freeway at 80+ and it sees a truck speed limit sign of 55 and literally slams on the brakes. Yet on a Tesla you can’t turn it off, liek you can with ford.

Hi, I searched threads and couldn't find one related to this problem, so apologies in advance if it's ben a previous discussion topic.
I have been using 1PD of late, and the last few highway drives I put the car into cruise control at 71mph, and after a minute or two, the car on it's own started accelerating and changed the CC setting to 75. I hadn't touched anything including the + set button. This has now happened multiple times and I am conscious of not touching any other buttons. Has anyone else experienced this?
Some of the recommendations are excellent. I will add that I had a situation that my car would speed up when it hit a low speed zone. The dealership saw this since they can see your car on teh road, speed and road etc. So the tech went out with me and the first time it hit a zone that was slower than the posted rate, it immediately sped up. There were some errors only a dealership can see, this error was related to the camera, so they updated the software and it was fixed.
Now there are two types of software updates. The ones we see are OTA (over the air) updates, then there are ones that the dealer sees that they only update if there is an issue. The thought is if its not broke, don't fix it. If you do not get any joy from what the guys said here, then go to your dealership and have them look for errors and updates on their system. Believe me, there will be a lot, since Ford only pays for it if there is an issue, they will need to see the issue before they will update or you will pay for it. Originally I had about 13 updates that were not OTA type. I was pissed when they said I would have to pay for them to be updated. Then the car was acting up and they happily did them at Fords expense. Its all about money. Good luck

What's the old design; I'm curious? I have several ideas on how it could be better and most of them involve not immediately adjusting the speed and rather allowing the driver time to override or approve the change, particularly when it's significant.

The predictive speed was added, at first you could unselect it. After that version started my car started reading mile markers as the speed limit and when a turn was coming up it would knock 5 to 10 miles an hour off the speed, which is a real pain in PA where we have more turns that straight roads.
