Same. I haven't had any issues with level 1 in an unheated, detached garage.

Sounds like a charging problem with their particular vehicle. Could just as easily happen in an MME.

Interesting how things like an EV fire or an EV charging problem make big news when there are probably numerous ICE car-b-ques or stranded vehicles every single day that go unreported.

Alternate headline: "Car breaks down."

My guess is his battery heater is broken. Teslas won't charge if the battery is below freezing, they wait until it's heated up first to avoid any battery damage. Normally that takes about 30-45 minutes, then it will start taking a charge.

Ford doesn't care about lithium plating and will happily fast charge your frozen battery.

Maybe Ford fixed it, but I remember a thread last winter where someone tried to use a Level 1 charger in -20F (or maybe below) temperatures during a road trip and could not get a charge because all the power was being used by the heater.

Average is one vehicle fire in the US every 2-3 minutes!
