You lost me at CR

I've had the pleasure of owning and driving 2 F150 Powerboost, over the last ~years. CR lists it as THE MOST UNRELIABLE pickup truck in America.

And if you spend any time on the Gen14 F150 forum, I'm far from the only owner that has had such good luck with an amazing vehicle.

Of course when you read the details of the issues that CR used to score it so poorly, the vast majority of those issues are not Powerboost exclusive, but rather F150 regardless of drivetrain.

Anyways, I'm not a big Rivian fan nor a Rivian naysayer. But whatever opinion I might develop about Rivian in the future, it will be un-influenced by CR.
One of the main reasons I bought the MME is Ford is a car (And truck) company with 125 years of experience building cars.
Being a beta tester for a startup could be very frustrating.

A fair part of Consumer Reports rankings are determined by their annual survey. Guess who fills out the survey each year? Those with problems mostly. Guess how many surveys I’ve filled out since 2020 on our ‘20 F-150 Raptor, ‘21 Mach-e or ‘21 Ford Ranger? Exactly zero cause we’ve had no issues to speak of.

On average, the only thing dumber than Florida woman is Florida man.
You know what they say about glass houses…..

Florida is ranked #1 in education……. New Mexico is ranked #50. ?

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/rankings/education

I know you were just joking, but that has to sting a little. ?

Fun fact about “Florida man” though. It’s not that crazy news stories just happen in Florida, it’s the fault of a 1991 Sunshine Law that makes all arrests and mug shots public record-
https://www.pnj.com/story/news/2019/03/29/florida-man-product-florida-sunshine-law/3310306002/

I used to get a kick out of the “Gotcha” magazine published every week with the mug shots and why people got arrested locally.

Floriduh somehow attracts morons. I think most of them aren’t educated there, they wind up there. New Messico is a real dichotomy. We have the most educated and highest income in the nation all in one place (Los Alamos) and a whole lot of barely educated folks in other places. But common sense is more common here than it is there.
We also suffer from being so close to Tejas.

The data doesn’t support your claims.

It’s important to look past the headlines sometimes. ?

The public records of all arrests here makes you think all the morons migrate to Florida.

The morons live everywhere, you just don’t hear about them as much since other states don’t have the same Sunshine law. ?‍♂

But if
Florida Man Charged With Assault With a Deadly Weapon After Throwing Alligator Through Wendy's Drive-Thru Window

You’re gonna hear about it here. ? Maybe if you had more alligators in New Mexico you could join in on the fun!

From the Rivian upcoming features:

"Manual DC Fast Charge Preconditioning: Manually prepare your battery for faster charging when arriving at a DC fast charger. "

Umm, Ford, can we have this too? Pretty please?

I don't know if there's any advantage to this. You're basically using the battery to heat up itself to potentially gain a few minutes at the DCFC. But that is negated by the HV battery usage therefore requiring a few more minutes to regain that lost juice. ?‍♂

Wait.
You mean after all the gnashing of teeth regarding a manual button for reconditioning, the mighty Rivian doesn't have the button yet? ??

People smarter than me can explain the difference in how Rivian can move rapidly where Ford can't (owning every inch of te software to vehicle interface, etc), but communication is communication, and for some reason the legacy car companies stink at it. It is true Rivian needs every customer to make it as a brand new car company, and that may the simplest explanation.

BTW - I love both vehicles. They are changing the game.
Too bad Rivian cannot move fast when it comes to service. For me it always takes 6 weeks or more to get an appointment, my powered tonneau broke in Nov, no appointment or parts until late Feb.

My GM vehicle has it. Also has configurable driver display, horn honking for air down and air up, etc.

Year end recap of Rivian software changes. This, Ford, is how it's done.

It does not matter how many improvements they make if you do not get them. I have a 23 GT I bought in April. I have BC 1.2 and have not had an update since August. I have called the EV line at Ford and they say my car is up to date. I have the older 2 dot interface, but no software glitches at least.
Just a data point, my 2021 has taken almost 50 updates and is a better car in almost every way since I bought it. Yes updates have slowed but the car is much better. I would imagine new things will come once we clear this BC hurdle.
