I was watching MotorWeek

The EX30 Performance has a 69 kWh battery with 250+ mile range on the performance version with 422 HP and 400 LB-FT.

It did 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and 1/4 mile in 11.90 seconds at 112 MPH.

And only costs $44K

I feel that I got jippes on performance with my $66K Mach E GT

My former partner had one and it’s a nice little car, but it feels extremely cheap and his got actually returned to Volvo because it kept putting myself in park.

I don’t doubt it. The inside looks like a model 3.
What I’m amused by is that Volvo, of all car companies, has a quicker EV with less specs than our cars.

Specs only tell part of the story. Yes it’s fast, but it’s also a much smaller vehicle and has a much more spartan interior.

Volvo (and Polestar) also seem to have major issues with their software right now. If you think the Ford/Mach-E software is bad, it’s night and day compared to the issues new Volvos are having.

If they can get their software issues resolved then it for sure is a good value for the specs. But 0-60 in 3.4 doesn’t mean much when it’s stuck broken at the dealer and you’re in a loaner.

I put a deposit down on one of these originally, but then they put in 100% tariff on Chinese vehicles. So, I bought a Mach-E. My wife was pretty upset because she says the Mach-E is too small for her use as a dog hauling vehicle. Imagine the trouble I’d have been in with the size of the EX-30.

The interior is super cheap and the ride quality is pretty brutal (feels like a Kia Soul with low profile tires). For same price I'd pick the MINI Countryman EV and I didn't care much for the ride quality on that either.

With that said, I hated the EX30 that I ordered and arrived and got my deposit refunded. The EX90 on the other hand...wow. Much quieter and smoother (air suspension) and vastly better interior + audio system. I would pick it over say an i7 (which I drove again this weekend at a BMW event) or Lyriq or many other luxury EVs.

I saw this car while researching before buying the Mach E

• Ford’s hands on lane centering (non Blue Cruise) is vastly superior and is top tier in the United States.

A bit surprising since Volvo is owned by Geely (=Chinese), but they still have their own crew and systems and it seems Chinese ADAS depends on Lidars and sensors which are not allowed in the United States for fear of Chinese spying, and they are also more focused on performance in urban chaos

• Volvos also look like Frankenstein

• It is WITHOUT an instrument cluster. it is one middle screen only like some of the new Teslas. not a fan

• Finally, it wasn’t even available earlier this year

LOL, $66K GT. this is what the actual market fair price for MME GT is. A like new clean MME GT for $45K, and it still struggles to sell. They also have Premium for $39K.

$45K MME GT vs that EX30. I will take MME anyday.

You’re probably less upside down than I am. I would be lucky to get $30K for it.

Agreed on that EX90 - holy cow what a machine. Same software problems tho.

The EX30 Cross Country looks really intriguing to me. But I still got a good 70,000 on my car before I am due for a change and there will be more cool cars by then.
