I took delivery of my new MME two weeks ago, and I'm loving it so far. When I first got the car, it would play what I call Welcome Chimes while the screens displayed some funky graphics. This is after opening the door and prior to hitting the start button. Now, for some reason, the Welcome Chimes don't play although the displays still have their psychedelic graphics. I suspect I turned off the chimes while playing around with SYNC4 settings, but I can't seem to find where to turn them back on. Anyone else encounter this?

Cheers,
Bill

Unbridled drive mode gives a different welcome sound than the other modes (and is sometimes hard to hear because of its lower frequency tones). Did you perhaps switch drive modes? ?‍♂?

Thanks guys. The Welcome Chimes came back today without me changing anything. Strange indeed.

I discovered that the charger at my local town library (ChargePoint) is only 5 cents per Kwh. I assume the town is helping to subsidize this in some way, as it seems less expensive than other chargers. Yesterday I added about 15% or so to my standard range battery and the bill was $0.42. It's a slow charger for sure (I was hooked up for an hour and a half while we were doing errands) but pretty cheap.

Cheers,
Bill

If your headlight switch is stuck on, you will hear chimes when entering and exiting. Maybe what you heard isn't supposed to be happening. I would check the headlight switch and confirm the "Auto" selection light is on.

Does your chime sound like this:

It should sound like this:

My car was delivered with a bugged DSP firmware and it sounded like that the top one, dinky beeps that come from the IPC, rather than the thumping chime that comes from the audio system. I had to bring it to the dealer to update the DSP to get the proper chime, along with getting the B&O sound system to sound proper.

After a series of OTA updates over the past couple of months, occasionally my car bugged out again and had the dinky chime from the IPC, but hasn't happened again after 2.8.2.

This is not a unique problem on the Mach E. While I was searching for a clip of the bugged chime sound, I found it from a post on a Mustang6G forum thread, from 2016 ?

Edit: here's the thread, particularly this post:

Aha! That seemed to be the issue. I do not hear the chimes when headlights are on auto, but I do hear them on other settings. The dealer must have had them stuck on when I picked it up, so I just thought it was normal.

The chimes definitely sound like the second case, so I'm pretty sure they're coming through the audio system.

Thanks a lot guys! I still have a lot to learn about my new MME.

Cheers,
Bill

The headlight switch will periodically produce an error, and switch off the Auto setting, leaving your headlights on. The dinging sound is telling you that the headlights are still on. It is a bug. Eventually there will be a recall, so they say, but for now, just spin the selector wheel and put it back on Auto. It is a minor inconvenience. It happens to me once a month or two.

Welcome sound happens in all drive modes, but you can't have any messages on the screen. Seatbelt buckled, door closed, not charging, etc.
