Hi all - I've searched the forum but can only seem to find the reverse of my problem. Most people seem to have an issue with their iPhone connecting via wireless, but I'm having no issues in that regard.

My issue is that if I connect my phone to my Lightning/USB-C cable too quickly (i.e. before Carplay wirelessly connects), I'll instead get that screen telling me to choose a phone to connect, and to go through all that. Truly annoying since it means I can't just plug the phone in and start driving. I've had my MMe since July 2021 and this has not always been an issue. Seems to have been happening since the 2.8.2 update maybe?

And yes, I've tried deleting everything and starting all over but same result.

Any other ideas?

I’ve run into this if I plug it in while the system is still booting up, but if I give it a good 10 seconds it’s fine. Just another bug it seems.

Okay, well if it's something everyone is experiencing (?), I guess I just have to grin and bear it.

Similar question: Should CarPlay automatically come up on the phone of the user who's profile is active? I always have to start CarPlay; select my profile, then activate CarPlay. Seems like extra unnecessary steps. Am I missing something?

Mine comes up automatically, do you have your phone assigned to your profile in the vehicle profile settings?

I mostly use wireless so hasn’t been too huge a deal for me, but yeah they should fix it. Maybe in the 3.1 updates?

I do. Set up PaaK, and enabled car-play. Every time I start the car, I have to turn on CarPlay and select my phone...

Hmm, weird. Is your phone favorited? I just have mine and my wife’s phone paired, but mine I favorited with the star, maybe that has something to do with it?

Same. No dice. Even went through deleting my entire profile and starting from scratch. Oh well. I can live with it for now.

Thanks for the advice.

Hmm, not sure because I have a single profile (my wife refuses to drive my cars for some reason!) and I've never had that issue arise.

Try rebooting Sync. Start the car normally, then hold the volume down and seek forward button until Sync Starts with the ford logo

Don't laugh, but I was looking for such buttons on my screen, but quickly realized you meant the steering wheel. Did that and turned off the car, got out, and locked it. Then got right back in and went through my typical ramp up and it connected automatically after it was already connected to the cable. Seems promising. Thanks very much for the tip!

Well, this morning things went exactly as I had hoped. I plugged in my phone without worrying about where it was in terms of starting up, and it connected to Airplay on its own just fine.

I was quite excited.

And then it was the end of the day, and time to drive home. Same old issue. Darn!
