Has anyone else noticed very bad audio quality in Youtube?

I don't know any of the finer details of how the browser's audio have been implemented, but something is amiss. The audio from youtube is quite often overmodulated (clipping occurs). No matter what the volume level of the system is. It seems to have the same amount of clipping/distortion regardless of volume.

When the Youtube feature was first rolled out, this could be solved by lowering the volume of the youtube player. However, in more recent builds of the Sync system it loads the mobile version of the Youtube site, which doesn't include volume controls on the player.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is there anyone who knows more about this that can shed light on it?

CONFIRMED! Audio levels above -6 dB in the YouTube app are clipped. This is not present when listening to the same video via CarPlay audio.

The overall line level in the YouTube app is lower than other audio sources (you have to turn up the volume more). Somebody probably noticed that, and tried to compensate by increasing the software volume level in the app rather than using the hardware level output volume control. As a result of them adjusting the wrong volume setting, it's now clipping instead of getting louder. SYNC engineers, please test audio levels with a 0 dB (full level) sine wave reference track to ensure no clipping is present.

In addition, the browser user agent must be set to a phone or something instead of a tablet because suggested video tiles are now way too big and take up the entire screen (can see 1 video at a time when scrolling). Keyboard also crashed at least once so I lost the ability to type anything.

@Ford Motor Company the YouTube app in 6.2.0 needs some work to fix the audio and user interface bugs.

Yes! Thank you for confirming!

@Ford Motor Company another bug I'd like to add to the list is that the radio app opens itself when you leave the YouTube app. Please PLEASE just have the audio system go silent/turn off instead.

I'm guessing they haven't touched the YouTube app in a while, as I'm still on 6.1.0 ? and every one of the behaviors you described are present in my build, and have been for a while
