During the Developers Conference this past week, Apple provided more details around their new CarPlay. They focused on how customizable the interface is, which has been recurring complaint.

Porsche was announced to be one of the firsts to embrace it, although no word on which model.
Curious to see if that will pan out, and whether other brands will give it a go as well.

This stuff is pure vaporware. First announced at the 2022 WWDC, here we are two years later without a single confirmed car. I guess it'll probably come to a couple of cars before being quietly killed off in favor of "investing in carplay features for all cars" or something like that.

Pure vaporware? It’s been 2 years. That’s nothing in software development terms. Especially in the automotive industry. Trust me. I work in software.

This looks like a Mustang Mach-e to me!

2022 seemed to have been very early stages announcement. Now we can actually see concrete gauges and ways to customize them, it seems much closer to something automakers can take home and start exploiting.

I’m hopeful!

Until they present it outside of slides and on a car, vaporware is probably an appropriate term.

Once you start showing it on cars, it still might never get released, but at least does exist.

Looks fictitious to me. Center screen too small and no knob. Driver screen too big.
I’d imagine it’ll be part of the refresh, gotta buy a whole new car to get the software update.

What I heard is some manufacturers won’t go for this because Apple won’t give them the metrics collected, which is a no-go because data is money.

What primary metrics would the manufacturer not already have?

All the gauges the car reports that, gps, driving data, etc. car reports that.

They won’t know what music you listen to?

I don’t know, the speedometer is not centered. Seems very Mach-e to me. ?

That sound plausible. Apple is extremely guarded about "their" data.
