For the first time in months I seem to have CarPlay issues.

my screen showed all my radio stations presets and I was listening to Satellite radio. All of a sudden the screen would switch to CarPlay- Nav and the sound would go off.

I went back to the radio and sound reoccurred. This then happened 4 times.

I reset the screen and all was well.

when I got into the car a bit later the CarPlay Nav screen seemed a bit wonky but straightened itself out. I left car and came back 10 minutes later and CarPlay wouldn’t connect. I then went into the phone screen and selected CarPlay for my phone and again wouldn’t connect. 5 minutes later CarPlay connected on its own.

this hasn’t been a problem for me in a long time and the switching of screens from radio to CarPlay with sound then going mute is a new one.

the only thing I can think of is that I received an OTA (why else would things get flaky) but I haven’t had an OTA since June.

any thoughts out there?

Try closing all apps on your phone except Ford Pass (if you use PAAK). If that doesn’t work, reboot your phone (not the “slide to power off” but a real reboot). Hopefully it will work as expected after that.

If I get a notification of any sort while CarPlay is connected but not on the CarPlay screen, the car briefly switches to the CarPlay screen to show the notification and then switches back to whatever in car screen I was on.

Is that what you are experiencing? If so that is normal and expected.

I have also experienced issues where sound said it was playing, primarily PodCasts, but was not. I have had to kill the PodCasts app on my phone and then relaunch to get the sound. That is I believe an Apple issue.

I have also experienced issues where a notification or phone call arrived that triggered the sound previously playing to be lowered in volume only for it to never return to a normal volume level. Generally switching to the radio and back to CarPlay seems to clear that one up so I am not sure if that is a Ford or CarPlay issue.

I am aware of the switching when getting texts etc. I didn’t receive any car play calls, texts etc and when I do the sound doesn’t go mute Like it did this time.

when I switched back to radio it worked but kept going back to CarPlay And shutting radio off.

a reboot of system seems to have solved it.
