J2534 Communication Error OBD-II after FDRS Update

I am hoping someone can put me in the right direction. I was doing updates through FDRS all day. I am using a Mongoose Plus. I was hopefully on my last update. Gateway Module. I tried using the USB way first, but it failed. I then took the long route and doing it CAD. Took over an hour. When it looked done and it was checking Comms, it came back as failing. I finally canceled it and tried again. At this point it stopped communicating all together. I reset my laptop and unplugged the cable to the OBD-II. Even drove the car around. Every time now that I try to start over with FDRS and connect to the car, it will not read anything. I can not get past "read the vin" from the beginning. Did I break something or could the Mongoose Plus just die on me? I ran the diagnostics that it came with and it seems to register it.

Try the Mongoose with FORScan. If that works, the Mongoose and the car are likely fine, so you may just want to reinstall FDRS.

The gateway module takes a long time. If you enter the vin manually end click connect does fdrs talk to the car ?

At this point my 2 day FDRS has expired and can not manually enter the vin. I am returning the Mongoose and getting a replacement since it looked like it was possibly used before. I will reinstall the FDRS when I get the replacement and get another 2 day and see if the same thing occurs.

Before you pay more money you really need to do this… Just to test it out for free…

I downloaded FORscan and it connected. There were some DTC's that I cleared. The j2534 toolbox is now also working again. When FDRS went down, so did it. Thank you for the assist. I guess now I will repurchase the 2 day license and try again. Ill let you know how the remaining updates go.

Ok. At this point I got back into FDRS. 20 DTC’s showed up. I cleared them all but 1. RDC. I tried two times to no avail. I’m skipping over this now and on to updates. It now has me doing another SYNC update. I’ll post after this. FYI. I did have the PAAK done previously at FORD correctly. This DTC has never showed up before.

Thank you for everyone help and suggestions. After the APIM update the RFA DTC disappeared. Everything is updated and no more DTC’s present. Will be helpful info if and when this happens again during update time.

Im still stuck, I get a similar issues, when I try to run the module repair it tries to flash the gateway and fails, the screen says network error, after about 30s the car comes back to life, but doesnt get to the repair part of the screen to get my sync unstuck...
