Anybody done this yet? I saw one post but it looks like that guy on his install already had a factory sub and spliced into that wiring. I'm adding an aftermarket amplifier and sub to a car that did not have one from the factory, so I have a box that will give me RCA output but I need to splice into speaker wire.

The main question is does somebody know an easy location to access a speaker wire?

We generally direct wiring questions to the guy who wrote the other thread about adding the sub. Man’s a genius with a wiring diagram.

Unless somebody tells me an easier way here's my current plan... I'm pulling off the rear door panel to access the speaker so I can see the color of the speaker wires. I'm going to find those same wires behind the b-pillar trim and splice into them there.

Oh god no - don’t pull the door panel to get the wire colors.

You get to the wire from the drivers door threshold. It’s the best way. This is how I did it.

And my splice location - use military splices so you’re not cutting the wire - my splices are inside the plastic cover.

thanks for this picture, took me a while to realize the right orientation I keept lookingat it from a different angle. How were you able to remove the plastic cover? I’m havingthe hardest time trying to get that piece off.

There is a small plastic e clip that holds on the frunk release handle you’ll need a small flat head screw driver to pop the release that will allow you to slide it off the splined connection. The rest of the panel just pops off then.

Or did you mean that internal plastic conduit piece? I cut all the zip ties and used my flat head screw driver to pry the clips and popped it open.

Hi, do you know if the speaker wires run down the left or right hand side on a UK model?

I can't provide a definitive answer, but I would be surprised if they changed the wiring harness for the UK/EU models. The more that is the same, the better economies of scale they get in the factory. And your car was made in the same factory as the NA models.

@Muppetofdoom as far as I know - the left channel are in that gutter and the right channel are on the passenger side.
I only used the mono connection on my install - so only tracked down the rear left wires which were fairly obvious on my car.
And I agree with @mkhuffman that it’s very unlikely the wiring harness is significantly different between the cars.
