Hi All,
Apologies if this has been asked... I did a google search before but can't find any great links.

I'm looking into doing the tire rotations myself... I've seen youtube videos about the proper jacking spots. If I understand correctly, if I jack a corner enough, the rest of the car will raise high enough for me to insert a jackstand

Assuming this is the case, could the flex of the car cause any issues with the glass roof?

The thing is, if you want to rotate your tires correctly, you really need to have all 4 wheels off the ground at the same time. As the Left Front tires move to the right rear spot. While the right rear tire will then be moved to the right front spot.

Not true. I've rotated many tires in this manner without having all four off the ground at once. If you do it right, you never need more than 2 at a time off the ground.

Its depends what method you use, cross or side by side. I do cross and in this case all 4 tires should be off the ground or not ?? Interesting what method do you use?

Tire rotation for the car is backs move forward, fronts cross to the back.

You need two jacks capable of supporting most of the cars weight each, because you'll be lifting the diagonal corners at times.

I use 4 jack stands, floor jack and to speed up the process croos beam. Something similar to this one:

I lift the first corner and put a jack stand under it to hold it up. Where ever that wheel is being moved to, I jack that wheel. Take the old off and put the new on. Then keep keep going around the pattern. Once all four wheels are back on and snug, I remove the jack stand and final torque all lugs. Check torque again after 50 miles.

Assuming you're doing the cross method, which is the correct way to rotate a square nonunidirectional setup, how do you jack up the opposite car corners with just 2 jack stands?

Here is my method.

1) Back car out of garage.
2) Proceed 8 miles to Discount Tire.
3) Stand and watch them properly place floor jack's and jack car up on all 4 lift points.
4) Ensure they a) rebalance each wheel and b) get each tire to proper location (I number them so when they mix them up I can point out the correct position.
5) Pay $0.0. Drive home.

Assuming it’s zero “new” dollars if you already paid for that kinda service when you got the tires.

On a related note, make sure your tires aren’t directional. If so can only rotate front to rear.

I lift one side at a time using a jack cross beam. I have four stands (actually I have more, but I use 4). I was originally considering using the excellent (but expensive) Jackpoint jack stands. I don't like lifting a corner at a time, so I either lift the front or rear on a car that can deal with that, or the left or right side on a car that I can't do the front or rear on. I much prefer to lift the front or rear to doing one side at a time, but the MME is what it is. 🤷‍♂️🐩

Oh, a few days of driving after I have reinstalled the tires, I always re-torque the lug nuts. 😁🐩

Good method. I would add step 4a - have them reset TPMS.
