Pleasantly surprised! I admit to being one of the naysayers who doubted that Job 1 cars would get BC 1.2
You're right. We won't ever get BC 1.2 ;)

Yes, all the BlueCruise hardware is OTA updatable.

Marques Brownlee just released a first impressions video where he said he was testing it (it was posted in this topic several times already). I'm guessing there are some media with 1.3 cars right now, but they are probably under embargo to show/review it for now. Hopefully we get some more video of testing it in the next couple weeks. Or maybe some forum people that are taking delivery of a July built vehicle could give us an update, these should be arrive to dealers very soon. Also looking for impressions on the new LFP battery.
Care to supply a link to the MB video? I don’t see anything about BlueCruise 1.3 on his channel.
Edit: nevermind. Found it.

Yeah the embargo is likely over if Marques posted his. So now we wait to see who else posts and how soon.

I'm curious on the LFP battery as well here in the midwest. Especially when we hit winter. Along with CarPlay 2 updates. (Although I deep dove into the WWDC sessions) From what I dug up, the MME should support the new experience or design in the area it has provided, and likely could fully adopt the main display experience. (SYNC referenced were found in early screenshots too.) So let's see what Ford announces next for software.

Yeah I think it will be a disaster in the cold unless they added a second PTC heater and made the battery thermal management much more robust than it is now. At the end of March the software was allowing a frozen (-6ÂşC) pack to be charged with 10 kW (which I sure hope has been fixed), LFP will not tolerate that.

Hands-free mode is out of reach for many people in rural areas. It's a poor value because of how few roads it works on.
Yeah, BlueCruise of any variety is worth exactly $0 to me. It’s a waste of data even transmitting the update to my car. ;)

Maybe it will active the inactive park assist sensors for those without park assist.
Nope, the chip is missing for that, so a software update can't enable it. Ford was going to offer replacement IPMA modules (not free) to enable APA after the chip shortage, but hasn't.

I’m surprised there’s so much hate for BC. I live in an area with extensive coverage and literally the second I get off an enterance ramp I’m using BC. I consider it a hassle now to actually have to drive lol

price is steep, but I’d be angry at this point if I lost bc.

Same. When I drive my 4 year old truck it feels like I'm driving a horse buggy conpared to BC. I feel so much less drained after a long trip. Stop and go traffic is much more pleasant.

Their chart is labeled as 'miles between hands-free disconnects'. It's also based on an average of all cars reporting data. There will be some users that are outliers and have much better engagement than what is typical. Disconnects are likely a combination of both BC turning off for being outside the geofence/curves as well as drivers disconnecting for lane changes or other things like being scared by trying to pass a car while hugging the right edge of the lane.

So, as miles between disconnects, if you're currently getting 250 miles without it disconnecting, they're saying you could now potentially go 1250 miles if you didn't need to stop for charging. Although at that distance, it's likely you'd hit sections of roads that typically saw lower engagement than those you typically travel on and move you closer to the average.
from the tech crunch story
"

Ford engineers have massively expanded the operating window of its most sophisticated advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), allowing more drivers to spend more time with hands off the wheel.

“We’ve basically improved that 3x,” Omari says of the latest release. For anyone coming from BlueCruise 1.0, Ford says it’s closer to a 5x improvement.

"

So it's not disengagements of bluecruise turning off. It's literally touching the wheel. I will have BC engaged, but have to side over, or help it through a curve.

No YouTuber has tested a vehicle with BlueCruise 1.3 yet.

However, Ford has send out a bunch of press vehicles for many channels to test 1.2 over the past 6 months, which is probably what you're thinking of.
except for the MKBHD video that was posted about 6 times earlier in the thread

actually got through the whole tech crunch article (https://techcrunch.com/2023/07/13/ford-releases-blue-cruise-1-3-hands-free-driver-assistance/) and it's very good. I like how the explicitly state how argo ai died because level 4 taxis are very hard, but level 3 is a workable problem. I've always thought what tesla was doing was so dumb because they are skipping a whole step. On reddit I said the pricing they announced only makes sense if it's level 3, and it sounds like that is the goal.

Our team at Ford is continuing to improve BlueCruise to make hands-free highway driving even better for you. We have a pleasant surprise for our Mustang Mach-E customers. We are delivering our latest software version of BlueCruise – BlueCruise 1.3 – even faster than anticipated.
  • BlueCruise 1.2: Includes Lane Change Assist allowing you to change lanes by tapping the turn signal and once the path is clear and In-Lane Repositioning which helps keep the vehicle in its lane while subtly shifting position away from vehicles in adjacent lanes
  • BlueCruise 1.3: Building on the previous version with all of the features of BlueCruise 1.2, it will help you stay engaged in hands-free mode longer including around curves and narrow lanes.
Mustang Mach-E customers with model years 2021-2023 equipped with BlueCruise can receive the update to BlueCruise 1.3 via a Ford Power-Up software update once it starts to roll out to vehicles later this summer. This means that vehicles with BlueCruise 1.0 and 1.2 will be updated to BlueCruise 1.3. Note, Ford Power-Up software updates are not deployed to all vehicles at the same time and this update will happen in waves.

To ensure you get this update and all the other latest and greatest software updates to your vehicle, make sure you:
  1. Turn ON Automatic Software Updates – this keeps updates coming as they roll out
  2. Set a recurring schedule –choose what is most convenient so you never miss a software update
For Mustang Mach-E customers who placed an order after May 2, 2023, or the vehicle was produced after June 30, 2023, your new electric pony will be delivered from the factory with BlueCruise 1.3.

Cheers to the next version of hands-free highway driving rolling out!

Awesome!Great job Ford! I’m looking forward to the Mach-E becoming better than Tesla Autopilot with BlueCruise! Make it happen. Love the Mach-E.
