So my windshield already has a big crack in it. Maybe I will head to Lowes or Home Depot, then drive around with a PVC pipe and see if a photo shows up on the internet.

About a third of this forum are pilots or retired pilots. We feel naked without our aviators on, cause pilot. You can always pretend.

I actually did crack my windshield in this exact way... but with a sit-on-top cheapie kayak I had just bought and it was a Gen II Prius, about three cars ago.

I wanted to make sure the shortie sit-on-top kayak would fit inside so I loaded it into the car right there in the parking lot of the big box store... that was after an exhausting day's work already so (obviously) I wasn't thinking clearly haha when I gave the kayak one last push.

...so I understand the PVC pipe guy ?

For what it's worth, you can route 10' lumber, pipes, or whatever diagonally into the passenger footwell and not risk the front or rear windshield.

But just another example of why I think our windshields are prone to cracks.

I remember removing a giant piece of laminated shatter proof glass from my old house that was used as a picture window.

We threw 2 lb sledgehammers at it as hard as we can trying to break it and couldn’t. It finally shattered when we set the edge down lightly against the side of dumpster we rented.

Windshields should be able to take a bit more force than this.
