If you have a Mach E and feel screwed by the price slash, call Ford, or don't. LOL

Last week. But they did confirm that there will be reach back for 2023 Mach E ’owners.
Ok, thank you for the information, I bought mine last week of December 2023, a bit less than 3 months ago, not sure if it would work for me

Not caring about resale is as silly as not caring about purchase price.

They are both halves of the cost of ownership formula.
But you only know and have control over one of them. It’s silly to care about something you have zero ability to do anything about.

Silly?

I guess I’m silly then. I care about tons of stuff I have zero control over.

Care even more if those things cost me money.

I bet if you thought about it more you might realize you’re silly too. ?

I felt slightly bummed seeing Bring a Trailer buys twice what my 75 911S Targa sold for in 2016. $75K vs $36K.
But really, it's just .... interesting. I was tired of rererestoring it.

Last week is a very different situation than somebody who bought a year ago.
Agreed, but the folks I spoke to at my dealer said there will be some concessions for earlier purchases. It would be worthwhile calling Ford Corp and the dealership HQ…

Doesn't change that if I were in a situation where I spent $71k on an MME and a week later Ford dropped the price to $63k that I wouldn't be at least a bit annoyed, but I have bought or leased vehicles before and then a month or two later rebates get far better (typically not $8k better to be fair, usually $1000 or $2000), I just look at it as part of the business. Don't buy anything you aren't able to survive just flat out losing entirely the next day.
But, in all seriousness, who except an uniformed potential purchaser would not know that Ford had a huge inventory and would need to do something to get them sold? I mean the information is everywhere if you just look and if someone walked into a Ford dealer a couple weeks ago and pulled the trigger on a new Mach E then all I can say is they must have been satisfied with the deal on the date of purchase. ?

Who other than someone from the future would know what Ford would do with pricing?

That huge inventory has been going on for 8 months or more. Impossible to predict that a huge price drop would happen this month.

Tesla did a huge price drop over a year ago and Ford didn’t do much at all.

You make it sound like this was an obvious move and easy to predict…… yet no one here predicted it.

Plenty of us said Ford SHOULD do it, and criticized them for not doing it. But no one here said “hey, don’t buy a 2023 yet, huge price drops are inevitable…..”

Folks have been saying for quite some time, in the media and on this forum, that demand is down and inventory has been building and that Ford will have to do drastic cuts to move last year's inventory. In my opinion anybody that went in and bought recently just did not care that that could happen and were willing to pay the going rate, in my opinion.

Yes, people have been saying they should for months and months.

Just no one predicted they would.

Agree that people were happy with the purchase at the time, but that changed when new information came out.

Everyone is happy with a free icecream scoop, until they find out their sister got 2 scoops for free. ?

Again, this is just my opinion so take it for what it is worth. There is a world of difference between having a big inventory of '23 model anything in Oct-Dec of 2023, it is a whole new ball game to have almost a year's worth of '23 inventory when you are 2 months into the first quarter of '24 and you are already producing the 24's. In my opinion, anyone who did not see this coming is either not paying attention or just doesn't have a good grasp of marketing 101. Again just my opinion and I stand by it.
