Hi there, new here. I just picked up a 23 GTPE, and living in northern Canada, I don't have use for summer tirs. In the last few years, I have used both the Celsius and Cross Climates on various vehicles all season, and I don't like switching between snow tires. Overall, I have been very impressed with all-weather tires.

Having used the Toyo on two different 4 runners, I got to know them well and understand their limitations on ice. The cross climates are new to me, and I have them on my wife's Tuscon. They seem superior for traction on ice, not sure if that's the weight of the Tuscons phev batteries helping or the tire, and I see lots of recommendations for them here. I wonder, though, are they better than the Celsius on a GT? The toyos look a little more like a sport tire, and there is an option to get the sport version, with a higher speed rating. I was curious if there was experience comparing the two. I tried the search bar, but not much was mentioned. Is the high speed rating worth even considering them?

I don’t know. But, those Crossclimates look noisy.
I live in mild weather, so I go with the Michelin Pilot Sport all seasons. They do ok going up to the snow slops.

In the tire ranking the toyo is ok. According to tests the best you can get in an all-weather is that cross climate 2 or the new Vredestein Quatrac Pro +. Most of the all-weather tires out there compromise traction in the wet to give you traction in the snow Michelin and the Vredetein do not. I have the QTP it works great.

I liked that the Toyo Sports had a higher speed rating, but I just ran across these.

MICHELIN® CrossClimate®2 255/45R20 105W XL MGT BSW
There 40$ more per tire but a higher speed and load rating than the 245,45,20 CC (103V).

Is the extra $ worth the added speed rating for the GT?

Being paranoid, I'd stick with the same size and specifications as the original. 245 vs 255 would concern me.

I don't believe extra load rating has any value... Extra speed rating does if you go exceptionally fast. Where I live such speeds would cause me to lose my vehicle and my license for a while, so that wouldn't tempt me personally.

With the GT I would buy the original speed rating or better as a general rule don't reduce speed or load ratings. Most people think speed rating is just that "I won't drive 130 mph so I don't need the higher speed rating" but that's a misunderstanding. Speed ratings should be called performance ratings because a tire needs to be built better to handle the higher speeds. What does this mean to you lower your speed rating and the car will not handle as sharp or brake as fast.

One other thought for you is the new Quatrac Pro+ in a 255/45/20 105w is available at tire rack now. It has as a very high W speed rating. Is not directional like the CC2 so it can be rotated properly rather than just front to back.

Here are the tests of the old Quatrac Pro vs the CC2. The new QTP+ improves handling and steering precision, dry braking, and handling in the snow.

And the 255/45/20 works fine on the GT, the huge benefit is it has a higher load rating. What that means to you is you can lower the pressure in the tire to 36 psi and the tire will handle the same weight. The lower pressure in the tire will give you a noticeably softer ride.
