Thanks. I have a nice ceramic coating on my Mach.WOW that's a shiny Mach !
Ive noticed in your picture and Jerry's that your charge door is completely flat . My 23 GT has a dimple to indicate where to push for open/close .
My car special or what ???
BTW nice job Ford on the slight redesign or what ever you did because my 21 Select was a PITA to close
Honestly, I wish there was a dimple on my charge port door.WOW that's a shiny Mach !

You have a 23.5. Did your Select have the power trunk? If so, your 23.5 is also missing a button to close/set the trunk. It's been combined to the middle button now.WOW that's a shiny Mach !

The 21 had the kick to open which I didn't know was discontinued on the 23 so for a week or two I was kicking under the back end like I was one of the Rockettes .Finally looked on the window sticker .OHHHHHHHHH . Thank you so much for your post! Exact same thing just happened to me at Moo Moo Car Wash today. I wasn’t aware the option to order one even existed! I just placed my order and hope it matches my rapid red baby when it comes in a few days. Fingers crossed my experience is as easy as yours was! After three years, finally had the charge door pop open in a car wash - and almost instantly had the charge door cover get popped off and swept away.
Upon exiting, they immediately stopped the wash and searched the tunnel - nothing. Once a week they clean the "pit", which happened to be in 2 days. Checked with them, sadly still missing.
At this point I assumed that even if they found it, it would be in bad shape - cracked, scratched, paint compromised etc. Headed over to PaintedOEMParts.com and saw they had the cover for $125 - painting and shipping included. Went ahead and ordered it.
Exactly a week later it arrived, and is perfect. They ask for the paint code AND VIN (you don't have to provide, but do suggest you give it so they can verify color/fitment of the part.
Couple of observations - first, as noted above, my '21 had a dimple-less cover (not flat, as there is an embedded curve to match the body). I had no idea they had added a dimple, so was surprised to see this new part had one - and, being used to the no-dimple look, I don't care for the dimple, lol. Secondly, I was SO thankful the door itself did not break when it popped open - I was worried about that being an issue, but thankfully the new cover just slides on and "pops" when correctly seated on to the door.
In any case, I now have a roll of black masking tape stored under the charging pad and will be taping up prior to heading into any car wash.
You bet - glad it was helpful!Thank you so much for your post! Exact same thing just happened to me at Moo Moo Car Wash today. I wasn’t aware the option to order one even existed! Touchless or self car wash only from here on out. I wish I had known this risk three hours ago ?
I got lucky and they called me later that night after they found the cover. It was still in perfect condition, so I snapped it back on and then glued it in place. The plastic release tab you push in had actually snapped off, so this is my solution to avoid a whole new arm mechanism repair that would cost far too much. She’s holding on with the strength of a thousand ponies now!You bet - glad it was helpful!
One strip of masking tape (diagonally across the upper right corner) seems to do the trick, btw -- it's just a matter of remembering to do it prior to entering the tunnel (and not right before, where you're the maniac holding up the line)!
