USB CarPlay won’t connect

Sorry if this has already been addressed, I swear I searched but couldn’t find anything…

I have no issues with wireless CarPlay, however there are several reasons I like wired CarPlay… namely charging and ability to use WiFi if needed.

The issue is that sometimes, even when my phone is connected via usb, CarPlay doesn’t initiate.

i have tried unplugging the USB-c cable. Replugging it in. Flipping it around.

The only thing that seems to help is to reboot my phone and sync (hold volume down + forward). Then when both have finished rebooting I plug my phone in and it eventually starts CarPlay.

Doesn’t make sense to me.

Would love to know if this happens to anyone else or if it’s a known issue.

Occasionally. My first reaction on any oddball failure or glitch including this one is to reboot sync and if that fails, then hard reboot my iPhone,

Also check your charge port on your phone. I've had intermittent issues with wired CarPlay in the past. I pulled out of bit of pocket lint and debris out of the charge port and the reliability of the wired CarPlay connection is much improved.

Does Anyone Have Any Apple Maps Connectivity Issues
I also do not know if this is related, I have noticed many times recently that when I am successfully using CarPlay and Apple Maps, that my trip is routing properly, however the vehicle does not seem to be sending battery or other telematic data. It will show the Minutes and Miles left in the trip but not the % battery on arrival.

Does this happen to anyone else?
