There is a problem with charging the car. What should I do?

"I always charge 80% of the target charge." My cell phone says 80% on the screen and it says that it can travel 183 miles, but when I check it on the actual vehicle, it is only 79% charged and the mileage is 172 miles. And as soon as I'm driving, the numbers keep dropping within a mile from 79 to 78 to 77. What's this about? Is it just me?

It's what happens when the car battery is warm or cold, or cooler.
What happens when charging is when it hots 80% it shuts down the charge. Reality is it's 79.95% at that moment in time at that temperature. The battery could be warmer because charging warms the battery a little. Then the car sits over night and it cools. That 79.95% at say 90 degrees at 1am could cool to 79% at 75 degrees because the battery meter rears the available power at the temperature.

Colder battery has a lower available kW than with the same kW available at a warmer temp. It's showing you useable power. If you left the car in the heat of the day you might get in and see 81%

When driving it re-guesstimates, possibly from the battery temp lowering from the coolant in the battery being a different temp than at the sensor.

That's somewhat normal. There's some error in the battery % measurement, especially when there are changes in temperature between when you change and when you drive.

I agree the software could be better about this.
