Hoping any of the more mechanically minded members can give me an idea of what might have happened...
> Have 2023 GTPE that came with stock Pirelli P Zero Summer tires. Purchased car in March 2023 and have less than 3k miles on it.
Love the car and have had no "ride" issues until...
> Since I'm in New Jersey, summer tires are supposed to be a no-no in winter. I decided to go with Michelin Cross Climate 2's and sell the Pirellis
> Bought the tires from my Dealer. When they came in, I told them to also check the Rotors, as I had a pronounced steering wheel "shudder" when braking going down a long hill in neutral (which I did often to keep the pads / rotors "clean").
> They installed the new tires and resurfaced the Rotors:
> Unfortunately, the steering "shudder" came back - and I also noticed a NEW vibration in steering wheel and accelerator pedal, from about 32-42 - and it was most noticeable around 40-42 MPH. Never had this prior to getting the new tires.
> They couldn't figure it out and thought it might be the tires. They "force balanced" the tires - no help - so maybe it was a bad tire(s)?
> Took advantage of the Michelin Guarantee and swapped the Cross Climate 2s with Primacy Tour AS tires.
> No help :^(
Same steering wheel vibration - and braking shudder came back AGAIN. Did a road test with the head mechanic and he verified what was happening.
> They had the car for a week and did the following:
> While the vibration issues are "better" I still feel it in the steering wheel and accelerator pedal, especially around 32-42 MPH.
Any ideas what might have happened?
Could something have happened when they did the initial Cross Climate 2 installation?
Why would the front right hub go bad at 3,000 miles?
Could the front left need replacing as well?
I'm clueless when it comes to car mechanics. Hoping someone can see a pattern and have an idea of what could be wrong.
Thanks!!!
