I called the Fordpass team and went over my issue. They said to have a dealer diagnose the issue and it may be related to SSM 50804, although reading about it if didn't sound like that is causing my issue. I don't use any 3rd party apps to drain the battery. Also I'm still having the issue with a brand new battery

You can try a full 12V reset if you'd like to reboot all modules, you'll have to pop off the top funk cover and use a 10mm socket to loosen the terminal. Otherwise this is more a phone/app issue?

Also FYI, the car needs to be parked in an area with AT&T cellular coverage. If the car doesn't have cellular coverage, then remote start/lock/unlock won't work unless you happen to be close enough for Bluetooth comms.

Car appears to be reporting to the cloud and installing OTAs normally.

I don’t believe it’s a phone/app issue. I’ve tried on multiple devices using Fordpass with no luck. Coverage is not the issue either. I’ve had the issue for months in many locations that have strong AT&T service.

The issue is only after the vehicle has been idle for over 30ish minutes. If I have recently driven it, opened the door, or plug in to charge the remote climate/lock work fine from the app. It appears something is putting my vehicle into deep sleep when idle for over 30 min.

So I just bought a new SuperDuty, and while I was there I mentioned my issue to the dealer and ended up leaving it with the Service department to diagnose.

They first said there was a recall 24B42 for a PCM update and they would try that first. No luck there.
Then they tried this: " PERFORMED MASTER RESET, CONNECTED PERSONAL PHONE TO FORD PASS, CONNECTS TO VEHICLE BUT LOCK/UNLOCK AND REMOTE START FEATURES NOT PRESENT. SCANNED CODES, B15A5:56 STORED IN RFA MODULE. SSM 50845 IS RELATED, REPROGRAM RFA AND RECHECK FOR CONCERNS. RFA SW UPDATE IS AVAILABLE REPROGRAMMED RFA MODULE, RETESTED FORDPASS FUNCTIONS, REMOTE CLIMATE CONTROL NOW WORKING NORMALLY. VERIFIED REPAIR. PERFORMED ANOTHER FACTORY RESET AFTER REPAIRS, CUSTOMER WILL NEED TO CONNECT THEIR FORDPASS TO VEHICLE" This did nothing for my issue either.

I just talked to the Service guy now and he said Ford is instructing them to update the GCM to fix the issue? Does this make sense? He said if the update goes through but doesn't fix my issue I would still have to pay for the labor. I really don't feel like paying for a guessing game to fix my issue.

I took a look. You do not have a GWM update available. Did you mean BCM update? They did software updates but I don't see anything wrong, other than the 12V battery being slightly low.

Since I don't see anything wrong, I don't have a lot of confidence that the BCM update will fix the issue.

Sorry GSM. He said they want to try to reprogram it. He tried explaining it could be something with my vehicle not thinking it's in park or something to that effect. Doesn't seem like it would solve my issue. I'd really like my remote climate control back but at what cost? I don't want them racking up labors hours searching for an answer.

You don't have a gear shift module update available. Not sure why they think reprograming it will help. Have you ever had problems with the car registering the wrong gear?

If a condition isn't met (such as the hood being open), usually the car will honk twice if you try to remote start it. Is that what happens when you try? And why would it work via Bluetooth but not cellular then?

Nope never had issues with wrong gear.

No, i'm not getting the honk indicator. So as of recently (around the time of the Fordpass refresh) it doesn't matter if i'm in bluetooth range or not. Once my car sits idle for ~30 minutes nothing I do get's the Remote Climate Control to work. I click the button and it spins for about 45 seconds and says "Remote Climate Failed". The only way I can get it to work at that point is to go and open the car, which "wakes it up" and I can perform a Remote Climate then, which is basically pointless at that point.

So just to make sure, you are not trying to do a Remote Climate or unplugged departure time more than once since the car has last been driven? No Home Assistant or any remote API control like that? Does lock/unlock still work out of Bluetooth range after 30 minutes, or is it only the remote start that is nonfunctional? Do you have the ability to check the 12V state of charge when it fails?

Correct, I don’t have any 3rd party api pulls active. I usually don’t try the remote start within 30 min of using the vehicle.
lock/unlock does not work at that time as well. The one difference is usually if I do get close enough for Bluetooth lock/unlock will work but still not remote climate.
I’ve tried at a variety of 12v battery levels with no luck

Sales rep informed me he was also reaching out to "Ford Hotline" which he described as Engineers at Ford to ask if reprograming the GSM would fix the issue, or if they know of something else that would fix it. Waiting to hear back.

vehicle has been at the dealership for over two weeks now. They have been in contact with Ford engineers and trying fixes that haven’t worked. Their latest request from Ford, which they are fairly confident in is replacing the headlight lamp switch. Which they say is related to ssm 51696. Doing some quick research on this myself it doesn’t look like we would have any impact on my issue. Any thoughts?

It could if the parking lights or headlights are staying on after you park the vehicle because of the faulty switch. Either way you want that replaced if you haven't done so yet.
