you're a glass half empty kinda guy aren't you....lolThis likely not come to existing MMEs without some hardware changes. I would not expect it until some time after the next generation MMEs comes out. ??
More like a dog who's worked in tech for a long time. ??you're a glass half empty kinda guy aren't you....lol
I, on the other hand, say the glass is broken?you're a glass half empty kinda guy aren't you....lol
Raquel says: No Thanks!!!CarPlay Ultra, Yes Please!!!
Yeah, Ford climbed onboard the next gen CarPlay, now named Ultra, a long ways back. I’m not really certain that anyone expected it to take this long to see the light of day and the presumed adoption costs have likely changed as well. We might see it in the 2nd generation Mach-e, should there actually be one, but I’d doubt it on my job 1 2021.
I hear you. But that’s not the only way.so now OEMs can triple their software development costs: native, CP U and AA.
I hear you. But that’s not the only way.
The OEM software (for CP U) can provide a reasonable behavior when no iPhone is provided. Alternatively, there could be a special hardware (or software) that’s equivalent to an iPhone when an external iPhone isn’t connected. This way, only one software is needed. I don’t know whether Apple provide this as part of CP U integration.
Traditionally, Apple doesn't like to let other kids play in their ecosystem so I don't see how this will make sense for anyone that prefers robots over fruit. The video says you need an iPhone to make it work, but??
So I found this article which states that CarPlay Ultra will be built-in. What isn't clear is what the user experience would be for those that don't have an iPhone. Obviously they wouldn't have CarPlay on the non-IPC screen(s), but what else. From the OG video above it looks like there is a fairly robust Settings app inside CarPlay, but it isn't clear if that would be available to users who don't have an iPhone. We also see that, at least in the case of Austin Martin, the OEM still has a UX that the user can decided to jettison in favor of CP U.
I'm reminded of the Confucian curse, "May you live in interesting times"...
Well they do allow Google Maps on their phones, but yeah, they think their $#|+ doesn't stink (and I say that as a long time Apple user).Traditionally, Apple doesn't like to let other kids play in their ecosystem so I don't see how this will make sense for anyone that prefers robots over fruit.
