Specific question for Arizona Mach E owners. I have a2024 Premium with extended battery. Will I be able to drive round trip between Tucson and Chandler on one full charge?

Hot! I get 312 miles on the GOM at 90% charge. Arizona homies think the 200 mile round trip doable on one charge.

The reason for maybe … if you’ve put less efficient tires on, the hvb has degraded some and the day of the trip is cold , windy , rainy , climate set to use the heat, plan to drive at excessive speeds , …. The range could be as low as 180 miles. Same car with ideal conditions 300 miles is definitely possible. Add in driving around at the destination, going from south Tucson to north Chandler to add more miles.. use ABRP to play with the assumption. But if you want a simple .. probably but know there is a scenario where the answer is going to be close

The good news is that if you must stop, it’s probably for the time it takes to have a pee break. I make a similar run often and the charging stop is like 10 or 15 minutes. I stop, plug in, walk inside to pee, maybe get a salty snack and I’m back on the road. I find that I often charge too long because there’s a line at the register or something like that.

I don’t know your part of the county or you experience road tripping EVs, so forgive me if I overstep. But go on plugshare and check out the stations along your route. Make sure that recent comments show success with the stalls.

I recently took a trip from North Tucson (OroValley) to Sierra Vista. Did a full charge before. 2024 MME AWD 91kWh battery. No problem with charge to spare. I think I saw 15% less than expected range due to the high speed and lack of braking. Had about 75 miles left after 200 miles round trip.

When I do 175 miles from 1200’ altitude in Tempe to 4300’ near Patagonia, Twin Peaks Rd on the north side of Tucson is my mid point of the drive. Starting at 100%, I usually reach my destination with 30-40 miles range left, staying within 5MPH of the speed limit. Going back usually leaves me with 100 miles remaining. Huge hit from extended 20 MPH headwinds required slowing to under 70 to make it. I can do the trip up at 80 without headwinds or serious AC usage, but I find the GOM is accurate for the whole trip only when my speed stays around 72-73 MPH in the 75 zones, and right at the speed limits elsewhere, when I can get to Patagonia with nearly 90 miles remaining. Going 78 sees the GOM estimate slowly decreasing from over 100 at the start in Tempe to 30-40 at the end. My usual trip typically has 300-500 pounds of passengers and cargo. Speed and headwinds seem to be the biggest factors.

I don't recommend using the EA chargers at the premium outlets. They triggered a charging fault in my Mach E that prevented me from charging anywhere else on my way home. I learned this can happen and there is a special reset sequence required in the car to be able to charge again unless you let the car sit for 10 or more minutes in off state.

If you do need to charge, I recommend either the Tesla superchargers next to the Freddy's or the EVgo in the Target parking lot.

Thanks. I have no desire to use a charging station other tha my Level 2 charger in my garage. If I cannot make the 200 mile round trip with 320 miles for full charge I will make other arrangements.

We live in Sun Lakes, adjacent to Chandler and have driven to downtown Tucson, then up around UA and back on a 100% charge and had 19 miles left. We have a 2023 Premium AWD Extended. If you have anxiety, a ten-minute stop at the fast charger Fry's on Alma School and Germann to add a few miles will do it. If you don't ride around town, you should be fine with a point A to B round trip. I don't think you will see 320 miles on a 100% charge.

'22 extended range, AWD Premium here checking in.

I would not hesitate to do it. Charge to 100% before you go, and don't drive outrageous speeds on I-10.

I-10 can be a speedway and it is too easy finding yourself at 80 - 85 mph just keeping up with the flow and trying to get around all of the semis on the road, especially the two-lane section between Casa Grande and Queen Creek.

When on similar trips and I am a little nervous about range, I will find someone going a steady 70 mph and tuck in behind them (not too close, but enough for them to fight the headwind for me) and increase my range. I would only do that towards the end of the trip if things were looking a little tight. Otherwise relax and enjoy the trip, you should do fine.
