Wish it was cloth because my back gets HOT after just a couple minutes. Vinyl seats without cooling ventilation should be a crime.

Same, bro. I need to sell my Lincoln, but those seats beckon me...

It's not vinyl, and I kind of like it, but I would prefer cloth too. And that goes for the ventilated seats too (especially since some people have had tears on the holes).

BTW, most leather is covered with vinyl because raw leather doesn't hold up.

“Synthetic leather” is plastic/vinyl. So I ActiveX.

And I think you have it backwards. Leather holds up great! Vinyl is trash.

Not sure what this “leather covered with vinyl” is that you’re talking about. That sounds awful. Haven’t heard of that being used in car seats. It’s either leather or vinyl and leather is significantly better. Lasts longer, more durable, and most important is more breathable.

I wish they gave us a leather option.

My wife's old Cadilac had leather seats, and I hated them. Yes, they were better than the vinyl seats I had in my 1976 Oldsmobile Starfire on a hot day, but not by much. And they were "slick like vinyl", and I saw a recent video on cleaning such "leather seats", he said that almost all of them are covered with plastic because raw leather does hold up, and you should use one designed for vinyl for that reason. And that's exactly what they felt like to me. I'm guessing if you run your hands over them and they feel "slick" that is a plastic like coating. Otherwise may it feels like swede.

At any rate most of my other cars have had cloth and that has always been 10x better. And that goes for how I feel about house furniture too.

Ah, I think you just got some bad information or just drew the wrong conclusion.

Real leather seats are made with leather. They may have some treatments and coatings to make them last longer. But it’s VERY different than vinyl coated leather and the vinyl seats.

Like everything- there are various grades of leather and quality differences. And suede is a whole thing altogether.

Same goes with vinyl. Different grades and qualities.

But in general? Leather is by far a superior product for chairs and furniture.

And don’t confuse real leather with the absolute worst product on the market- bonded leather.

Good leather seats and products last DECADES and imitation leather just plain doesn’t.

Get a good leather belt and it’ll outlast you. Vinyl? Not so much. Same goes with furniture and yes car seats.

I don’t think Ford even uses leather seats anymore. Sticky back? Just turn the AC up. But then again, I live in the PNW where they issued a heat advisory because it’s going to be 86 F today.
In Louisiana, we didn’t get heat warnings until the thermometer hit 105 and AC was for wussies.

I’m in Deep South Texas. It’s hot. The ac unfortunately does not have a way to reach the space between my back and the seat. Every other part of my body is nice and cold.

Then I guess that Cadilac had " bonded leather". It wasn't a great feeling.

I think that it probably comes down to this. You are only going to see really good leather in very high-priced items/cars. So, especially in the lower end cars, cloth seats are by far the better choice.

For sure. I would prefer good leather or cloth options vs the trend towards vinyl that we have been getting.

Same how I feel about a couch. I made the bonded leather mistake once and never again. Didn’t make it 3 months before splitting and peeling. And the “all leather” first couch we bought 23 years ago from Rooms2go? Still in great shape after multiple dogs and kids and zero treatments.
The problem is I priced out an all leather sectional at about $20,000 recently….. and went with cloth.
