Best Charging Stations to use when on a road trip in Canada and US

In Ontario and Quebec I had decent results with Electrify Canada. As of January 1, Electrify Canada reworked their pricing, approximately doubling costs from last year. So it’s no longer a deal, but I’d probably still primarily use Electrify Canada.

Electrify Canada going to kWh pricing, raises Pass+ membership fee

Announcement from Electrify Canada "Electrify Canada announced today a new station-specific, kilowatt-hour (kWh) based pricing structure at charging stations nationwide. The new pricing structure will take effect on January 9, 2024." During my recent trip from Michigan to Quebec City and back...

MyQ Possibly Introducing Subscription Service Model for Garage Door Opening via CarPlay?

I went with Tailwind, just got everything working. It took several weeks to deliver, probably in part due to people like me replacing their MyQ. Installation was more wiring hassle than I expected - two doors, each with the door sensor and garage control hardwired to the Tailwind unit. But, I...

MyQ Possibly Introducing Subscription Service Model for Garage Door Opening via CarPlay?

I think yesterday might have been the end of the road for most MyQ access, in my case via HomeBridge. As reported on Verge, MyQ made an official announcement yesterday, shutting off all "unauthorized" API access. My HomeBridge plugin stopped working yesterday; I tried (twice) the recent...

    Mach-E vs. 2024 Volvo EX30

The spec that caught my eye is storage behind the rear seat. The Mach-E has decent storage but it's not huge in my opinion. The Ford specs list the Mach-E with 29.7 cubic feet behind the rear seat. The EX30 specs list 11.2 cubic feet behind the rear seat, even including 2.2 cubic feet under...

MyQ Possibly Introducing Subscription Service Model for Garage Door Opening via CarPlay?

I'm a longtime user of HomeBridge and the mentioned PlugIn. It still works for me, I just checked to be sure. That's not to say it will work tomorrow, but I checked the PlugIn code and the developer is still actively updating as recently as yesterday, with no mention of API shutdown. If it...

Worse Than Electrify America? Try Petro-Canada

Have you tried Electrify Canada? I had pretty good results, especially with the "Oshawa Mid" station which is about 50km from Port Hope. https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/michigan-to-quebec-city-and-back-all-on-electrify-canada.30204/

First Tesla Superchargers with "Magic Dock" CCS Adapter are online... and charged up a Rivian

Some new pictures show the V4 Superchargers with built-in Magic Docks. The V4's longer cable makes this exciting for Mach-E use. https://driveteslacanada.ca/news/teslas-v4-superchargers-in-the-us-include-integrated-ccs-adapter-and-credit-card-reader/

Road trip with brand new Mach E Premium

My recommendation is to be prepared. Not sure of your status, i.e. have you owned a (non-Tesla) EV before? Perhaps you already know, but the charging infrastructure is not at the point of what's familar with gas vehicles - wait until near empty and find a gas station. Assuming this is brand...

    Ontario EV Infrastructure Terrible

Update / cross-post: I just completed the trip I mentioned earlier in this thread. Went entirely with Electrify Canada. Had more connection issues than I consider acceptable, but still pretty happy with the experience. Quick summary: Good charge rates, even when starting with a...

Michigan to Quebec City and back - all on Electrify Canada

I just completed a long road trip in Canada, I thought I would summarize my experience: Background: Mach-E First Edition (Premium Extended Range AWD) I drove conservatively, arriving at each charger with 25-30% charge remaining. At each stop charged to at least 80%, sometimes more. Route: MI...

    Ontario EV Infrastructure Terrible

It's somewhat encouraging that the OnRoute Ivy chargers never completely failed and caused you to find another site. I guess I have low expectations at this point :). Your route also reminded me to look for a midway hotel with L2 charging, hopefully I can find somewhere with free charging.

    Ontario EV Infrastructure Terrible

OP - could you provide some details to your route, e.g. chargers used? I've read that the chargers at the OnRoute rest stops, while more convenient, are generally bad. There are Electrify Canada chargers that require minor detours from the 401, but perform better (not perfect, but better)...
