After having mine on for almost 2 weeks, with a decent amount of driving on them, I think the DWS06's are great. I cannot speak on how they compare to the A/S 4's, but the ride is great in comparison to the Pirellis that came with the GTPE, and I don't feel as though much is lost in the way of...
Just got my DWS06+ installed today. Obviously haven't put them through any thorough tests in one day, but I do have about 600km of driving to do in the next week.
So far though...noticeably quieter, and the ride just feels softer all-around. Like going from a dress shoe to a sneaker.
Yeah, any new tire is going to give you a range hit, as new tires have more rolling resistance than a worn tire. The key will be to see what the range is like later in their lifespan, then you can really compare them.
Confirmed with my tire guy that the ELECT version is an H speed rating, and the non-elect is the Y. Weird that they would drop the speed rating so low on the tire geared for EVs.
I'm leaning towards the DWS06. As much as I wanted the Hankooks, I don't really want to wait 2+ months for them. I've had good experiences with Continental in the past, and my current winter tires for my GTPE are the IceContact Extreme, and they have been great
I'm in the same boat as you. My stock Pirellis are done like dinner, and I'm looking for an all-season tire to replace them. I'm much more interested in a better, quieter ride and durability than I am in handling performance. And with all-seasons instead of HP summer tires, I can take them off...
This is exactly what I was hoping would happen with this post - people much smarter than me weighing in and making me a teeny-tiny bit smarter in return ;)
Also weird that TireRack shows it as a 103H tire, whereas the Pirelli site shows the non-elect tire in the stock size as 103Y
And I just noticed that I completely missed a couple comments from earlier this year from members that also noticed the 245/45R20 is missing from the website.
Yeah, that's a good way of putting it.
TBH I hadn't even thought about the elevation until recently. Even though we're on the doorstep of the Rockies, it still feels like we just live in the flat-ass Prairies, and you forget about how high up we actually are.
Out of curiosity....your profile says you're driving the GTPE. according to Pirelli's site, the only size close to the stock GTPE size with ELEC Technology is 245/40/R20...so are you rolling with that size as opposed to the stock 245/45/R20? Or are these tires on a different model of Mach-E...
Huh, guess that's likely the culprit then. I just didn't expect it to have that much of an impact, especially since it's all very gradual over prairie land.
I am going to make a more conscious effort to pay attention to which way the wind is blowing on my future trips, but thanks to the proximity to the Rocky Mountains, it can be coming from all different directions in the span of a few hours.
Hey all
I don't do a lot of long-range driving in my GTPE. I'm in Calgary, and the extent of my road tripping is the drive up to Edmonton to visit family. The one strange thing I've noticed over the few years I've had it, is that the range is vastly different going up than it is coming home...
Definitely need to replace my stock 245/45/R20s, and I've decided I'll go with the iON evo.
I have seen some people going with the 255/45/R20 as opposed to the 245. From what I can tell, you sacrifice in speed rating, as the 255's drop down to an H, but they also have a better load rating at...
TBH, I still prefer car climate controls to NOT be a part of the digital screen console. My previous ride (Honda CIvic) had the climate controls within the console system, and it was a bit of a PITA. I noticed that the newer civics undid that, and the climate controls are back to being analog...
It's all about the tires, not the wheels. Most folks just get "steelies" for their winter tires, but for us MME owners, I'd be very concerned about the load rating of said wheels. I can't seem to find a lot of info on their specs online, but I wouldn't be surprised if most steel wheels available...
I just contacted the sales rep I dealt with, whom I got along well with, and he said they'd be more than happy to get my MME in and get it up to date. Thankfully the dealership I dealt with was in a small town outside of Calgary, and they're very service-oriented.
Hmm. I got notification earlier today that an update had been applied. Figured it was this, but when I read the notes, it was 3.5.3
I've only had the car for a few weeks now, and there's still quite a bit I'm figuring out. Should I be chatting with my dealer about this?
