Well, you could software limit the battery output and input to something like 50A from the factory and that would fix the issue, but that is a bit like treating an illness by killing the patient.
Not directly relevant to the OP, but just wanted to chime in and say that the stock Continentals that came on our GT (Not PE) were WAY better in the winter than I expected and we felt no need to go with snows. I am getting them replace with the stock tires in a month or so (wear) because we...
Honestly, that is about when I am expecting Bluecruise 1.2, with it then coming to our Lightning sometime between Oct. and Dec. 2024.
I am looking forward to it (we road trip quite often), but love Bluecruise 1.0 so not that big of a deal.
My only issue with idle charges is charger reliability. On a trip I am on wth my family right now (with our Lightning) and we hit a charging location that would only charge at 50kW (and 2 other broken stalls). Since it was going to take almost 1.5 hours to charge(to 80%), we decided to have a...
Ok, here is my guesses
- After Oct. 1. Best guess is the 2024 models will launch with the new software and they will roll out OTAs sometime part way through the model year (mid-2024)
- Shorter. I think 8 seconds is really asking too much. I think 6 or 7 is more likely.
- Same level of...
Well I will say that Ford did a much better job with the Lighting in terms of EV performance. No 5 second rule, way less thermal throttling and reduction of power at lower battery levels as well, so they know what they are doing. I also have high hopes for gen 2
I have been following the EV9 as well, but not as an alternative to our Mach-e. To me, I am wondering if it could be a potential replacement (if needed) for my Lightning. Love my Lightning and have no plans on changing, but with the price hikes and interest rates, I am not sure I could afford...
I don't have any graphs to show, but haven't noticed any difference in performance or charging issues on either of our EVSEs at home. Ford Charge Station Pro (from the Lightning) set at 48A and a Grizzl-e set at 32A.
It may be changing rates, but haven't had any issues or errors using either...
I usually say it doesn't matter for daily driving, just takes a few seconds to plug in at home.
For road trips I say it goes longer than my bladder and for charging it takes as long as a bathroom stop and grabbing some road snacks.
Gotta admit that EX30 looks very nice. Definitely on the short list for a future vehicle, pending more info coming out.
Edit: just looked again and the lack of a gauge cluster may be a deal breaker. I hate that.
I will add on to this that I suspect they thought the GT would be far more niche than it ended up being, so they didn't allocate a lot of engineering resources to it.
I seem to recall an article from a year or 2 ago saying they were surprised at the demand for the GTs.
