110 volt charging

Yeah, I get so many people who can't wrap their head around how an EV can actually save you time, overall! I keep having people say to me "well, I can fill up in under 5 minutes when I need fuel". Yes, and you had to drive 1.5-5 miles one way out of your way to then spend 3-5 minutes fueling up. That 3 minute fill up cost you about 15-20 minutes of your time, and then you had to go out of your way to do it. I make sure to plug my EV in when I get home and it needs charge, which it takes me about 3 seconds to do, and when I go to leave the next drive, it's ready to go. No mental calculations to see what day I have to stop and spend over 100 dollars to fuel up, nor any calculations to see if I'm low on fuel and can make it home today and drive again tomorrow, or if I need to stop to get gas. One of my favorite sayings has always been "just because it has always been done that way doesn't mean that it's not incredibly stupid".

For sure. Potential buyers ask “how long does it take to charge” thinking it’s the equivalent of “how long does it take to fill up.” We can give them an answer, but really we need to point out that they’re asking the wrong question. They probably mean “how long will I have to WAIT for my car to charge?” Now we have the opportunity to talk about how long we wait to charge in every different situations. For me, I’d say I don’t wait at all when I charge overnight, but if I’m on a road trip, it depends. I have a toddler (and the bladder of one), so stopping every hour and a half to change a diaper (daughter's, not mine), use the restroom, get a snack, maybe let her play or eat lunch means I don’t actually wait at all because the car charged in the background. If I’m alone and trying to make good time, then charging an EV is for sure going to eat into the total trip time, possibly considerably. If it’s cold, add even more to that time because I have to stop more and It’ll probably charge slower.

When I first got my mme, I was still working and parked in a 10 story parking garage. Every floor had a few 110 outlets, and I would plug into those. I got around 25 miles per day, and round trip from home was 13 miles. Just an example of how 110 works well for some situations.
