12v plug never turns off

Hello, first time posting... hoping y'all can provide some clarity

Just installed a new dash cam on my new mach e. It seems as though my 12v port in the front just never turns off, even though from what I could read it should be turning off after 15-30 minutes. The model I have states parking mode does not engage unless it is hard wired (it is not), and I confirmed parking mode is completely off in the settings. It just continues to loop record even though the mach e is off and I've walked away.

It went on for over an hour before I decided that I would just unplug it to avoid drain issues. Frankly pretty perturbed about the thought that I may have to manually plug and unplug the dashcam every time I want to go somewhere when I've never had to do that for any car I've had previously.

It should turn off after 10-15 minutes unless that option was changed with FORScan. You can always change it back. I had changed mine to time out after 1 minute.

I suspect you dealer would change that so it turns off at the 10 minute mark.

As said it should turn off after a while.
Look into using this instead for a cleaner install. This will turn off as soon as you shut the car off.

I had seen this item and wanted to use it but got worried I'd make a mess of it... may have to get over the fear and just try my best

Just go easy when prying the plastic panel off and the rest is easy.

Also. If you don’t care if the cam has a screen or not, this is a descent option. I have one in my wife’s BMW i4.

Lots of good YouTube videos on how to take that trim off. It’s pretty sturdy.
