On Monday 3-27 my 2021 FE wouldn't start, the screens would come on but nothing else would work. I had the "STOP SAFELY NOW" notice on the small screen. I also noticed that vehicle had not charged overnight. It still showed 47% even though it had been plugged in all night.
I plugged the charger back in but noticed the charge indicators were orange. I also couldn't get the car into nuetral.
I contacted Ford roadside and they sent a flatbed to come and get my vehicle.
They took it to my local dealer. Unfortunately there were already 2 EV's ahead me waiting for service so it took a week before they could look at it. They gave me a loaner.
It was turned out to be both the HVBJB and the 12v battery needed to be replaced. It took 14.5 of hours labor to replace the HVBJB. They only have one lift modified to do the battery removal and one scissor lift to lower the battery.
I got my car back on Friday Aptil 7th.
2021 FE AWD Xtended battery
Build date 12/20
Delivered 2/22/21
32K miles.
I did have the software update that was supposed to prevent this happening. I didn't have any warnings prior to this happening.
Estimated repair cost if not under warranty $3,500.

It is supposed to prevent the car from being dead, not the HVBJB failing. Your car was dead due to the 12V battery being dead, which may or may not have been connected to the failure. Had they simply charged the 12v battery, the car MIGHT have been drivable to the dealership.

I'd say the same as above both times mine failed it was still driveable. They reset it at dealer and I drove it another 2 weeks but not in limp mode.
