3 Hours to Program a Key Fob?

I just got around to asking for my 22B10 key fob and the service writer asked if I’d be dropping off my car the night before. I told her no, that I’d just wait for it that morning. She responded in a shocked voice that I would be waiting around for at least 3 hours while the program the new key fob.
Im pretty sure it’s not going to take them 3 hours to program a key fob, right? ?

I brought my car in for the same thing. Took 25 minutes from walk in to walk out. Some of that time was them brining my car in, other time was them trying to do the recall update that had already been done. I’m guessing the key take 10-15 minutes max.

my dealership says "your appointment time is with us not the techs" meaning they just move cars through in the order they came in.. most of the time they end up way under what they estimated, I think it's an attempt to get higher survey scores

FWIW, I had the dealer here program the fob I had previously purchased (Job 1 2021) while I was doing the paperwork for the car purchase. The fob took 5 minutes. The paperwork? Yeah, a darn sight longer.
