Programming a key with only one fob

I know it's straightforward to program a new fob with two keys.

I have one key and would rather not pay $550 to the dealer.

Is there any way I could buy a key online and program it myself.

No, there is not. Dealer, or locksmith, and only if the locksmith has the correct software to make a unique key, not a duplicate key.

You can buy a new fob on eBay for around $50 then take it and the car to the dealer for the actual programming. It didn't cost me much, I think it was around $150
