Ordered 5.0 Mustang GT and have trade in allowance locked in already ( they have the money). Can this be canceled and get refund? Car is going to be done this month (awesome vehicle). Wasn't ready for a Mach E yet but things are moving fast. Retired and watching money disappear. Any advice greatly appreciated!

Have you by any chance called the dealer and asked to unwind the deal?

You paid for the car upfront? I only had to put 500 down which was refundable to get a Mach E.

Emailed dealer a while back and was told can't cancel or change order. Answer -
"Your vehicle is scheduled to be built, so we can no longer cancel, or change the order. If you want to put in an order for a 2023 Mach-E Premium, we will have to wait until September as Ford in no longer taking orders at this time, and most likely will not be until the 2023 model year until we can order again, and it could take up to 9 months or more to get the order built once we get the order in. We have some 2022 Mach-E Premium orders that were placed at the beginning of November 2021 that just got scheduled today to be built in July, and will not be here until August 2022 as they take a month to get here from Mexico. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Your dealer is correct in that once an order is scheduled for production the order cannot be changed or canceled. Most dealers will allow a customer to abandon their order (so they can sell the order for a much higher amount once they receive the car). Most of these dealers will refund the customer's deposit. Looking at what you pasted as a response from your dealer, they are willing to allow you to abandon your current order and either place a new order for a 2023 or pick up one of their stock units in August. Not sure if your dealer will just let you abandon your order and recover your deposit since here's nothing to that effect in your paste of their response to you. ?‍♂?

Thank you for responding. I am about to email the salesman to get to find out if deal is possible. They are a good dealership that gave me a fair trade in on a 2013 corvette "they are also a corvette dealer. It was 5% off Mustang GT without hassle. That is their policy.
Anyway, how do you like your Mach-E GT????

I don’t understand this statement.

You said “they already have the money” for your trade in.

Money from who? And who has the trade in vehicle in their possession?

If you have the trade in still…… no money exchanged hands.

They purchased the corvette and applied it to the deposit on the factory order. Still owe balance.

You could accept the car then sell it after a driving it for a while.Probably make a profit.

What is a 5.0 Mustang GT? Is that the ICE Mustang?

My dealer refunded my deposit even though my car was scheduled for production. No questions asked. They probably sold it to someone else the day it arrived, so they did not seem to be concerned regarding my refund. If it were me, I would go into the dealer and ask to speak to the general manager. If they are a good dealership, they should refund your deposit IMO.

That is a different car than the forum topic so that might be why the dealer is acting differently from the way I think they should act. Maybe it is harder to sell the ICE car than the MME. My only experience is with my MME. They are flying off the lots and I can't imagine a dealer would hold a deposit for a MME when they can then sell it for more when it is in their lot.

But an ICE Mustang? I have no idea.

Yeah…… that’s not how it works.

No money exchanges hands until delivery.

They may have agreed to buy your trade in, but they definitely didn’t send that money to Ford yet.

What paperwork have you signed? Who has the title for your Corvette and where is the car?

I feel like you’re not giving us enough info and the dealer isn’t being fully honest.
