Air conditioner turning on automatically

After I turn on my car, it seems the air conditioning will come on automatically, even if I feel it is not needed. Is this a normal function? Or is there a way to stop the air conditioning from coming on automatically?

Touch the fan speed button. That disables the automatic functions.
Then open the climate controls by touching the icon on the right of the volume knob. In there you can manually activate the A/C. It will turn off A/C when it gets down to a certain temp though.

As far as I know.....there isn't a "vent" setting per se. You have to turn off Auto and then manually set the temp and then force the A/C, recirc and eHeat turned off. If there is an easier way then I am all ears.....(maybe someone else will jump in with that hint).

We use A/C pretty much year round here anyway so I don't get much practice turning it off.
