Air recirculation shuts off on it's own

I discovered this because I always select air recirculation when going up a hill, so I don't get all the ICE vehicle exhaust blowing into the cabin. Sometimes I do not turn it off, because there are more hills coming, but then at the next hill, I smell a strong exhaust smell and when I check the re-circulation setting it is no longer on. This happens every time I leave it on. Both on my Premium and GTPE.

With Alexa app it is now easier to turn it on and off, than before, but it would be nice to have an indication on the main screen to show the status.

Yes, several threads on this. You cannot prevent it from changing back to outside air.
