I’m not finding this in a search, but I’m sure I’m not the first to experience it. If someone could point me to the thread on this bug, I would appreciate it.

I have an issue with the radio activating on its own. It activates to a random AM station with static. Loud static.

The bug appears to be associated with a Bluetooth handoff upon starting or turning off the car.

It most frequently occurs when I enter and start the car when I am in the middle of a phone call. When I put the car in reverse to back out of driveway, it appears that the car’s attempt to engage my Bluetooth / Apple CarPlay connection shits the bed and the radio turns on instead, blaring static. This is *super fun* when I’m on the freaking phone and backing out of my driveway, which means that all my SYNC controls are suspended until I put the car in park or drive.

Help please? We need to inform Ford of this aggravating bug.

I hate this bug. The only workaround I've found is to remote start the car and it makes it a bit more reliable.

If I am actively on a call and then get into my car, it just bugs the heck out. It'll connect via BT, spend 5 seconds using that, then switch back to the no phone connected screen, but the phone thinks I'm connected so I switch to speaker, then the radio starts blaring, then back to BT, then it might go to CarPlay but then no audio comes out of CarPlay. A total crap show.

Happens to me too, with the exact same trigger through Android Auto. Although, it does not always switch to static noise from an AM channel. On the good days, it switches to some preset FM station. Maybe try setting a preset FM station, and check if it plays some FM music instead of static (less annoying than status quo).

Found an old, short thread about this same issue (which ironically I also posted in)…

https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/my-fm-radio-randomly-turns-on.10238/

In addition to that thread, can add @mpshizzle and @MME_Adventurist to the list, who made similar observations in other threads.
Well I definitely have experienced the am static bug before, I don't think I can say that I've had it happen to me with a Bluetooth hand off specifically. (Could be because that's not a common scenario for me)

The bug seems to be related to what happens when an audio source is lost. And has been present in sync for a very long time. I used to own a 2017 mustang, and a 2016 F-150. In both of those vehicles, if I was listening to something on Android auto, and then unplugged my phone (wireless wasn't a thing yet) sync would revert to the radio. And often the volume level would be relatively high.

The mach e is slightly smarter now, where if a connection to Android auto or apple carplay is lost, it will instead just turn the audio system off. But that behavior is still manifesting in very unpleasant ways.

It appears that for many of you it is being triggered by bluetooth hand off. Where I notice it with 100% consistency is when I leave the YouTube app on the sync screen. Every time, without fail it will immediately start blasting AM static.
