Aircon vs Eheat

after reading several threads on eheat and fiddling with my MME's controls, i am totally confused.

does the MME's aircon warm up the car? for instance i usually set my aircon to 22C (72F). will the aircon maintain that temp or does eheat do the initial warming once the car is started and then drops off?

If you set it to 72ºF it will heat or cool as needed maintain that temp. If you turn off E-heat then it will only be able to cool.

The output of the E-heat is variable, it will ramp down after the car warms up. Same thing with the A/C compressor.

the compressor does not have a reversing valve that I have been able to discern, so no the AC does not heat. Someone please correct me if you can find one in the diagrams, but from what I can see the AC only dumps the heat externally and relies on the resistive heating to heat. Resistive heat will use more power than AC by the way, its only 100% efficient vs AC 200+.

Correct, the Mach-E does not have a heat pump. A/C system can cool only, and electric heater is the only source of heat.

It's a pity that Ford cannot put that sentence in the manual. So much simpler than Fords explanation.

I have to say, I never thought otherwise. Air conditioners cool, heaters heat. We don't have a heat pump in our house, so it's never in my train of thought.

Depending on where you live heat pumps are incredibly common. Where I live if natural gas isn't available it's heat pump. And most people in my area wouldn't know the difference between a heat pump and an ac.
