Preconditioning the supercharges works if you manually search for it in the navigation, doesn’t it? It’s just that it won’t automatically add superchargers to your route.
Nope. The only way to precondition when going to a supercharger using connected navigation is to navigate to a nearby supported DC Fast Charger like Electrify America but don’t follow its instructions and go to the Supercharger instead.

Have you tried it out? Post #101 on this thread suggests that it does.

There really should be a universal standard for that…
Walled gardens or bust!

You’re right, of course, but let’s not count on Apple to do the right thing for us. They’re likely to do what’s best for investors.

It worked! On my way from Calgary to my home in Canmore I put the Kananaskis Tesla Charger in as a destination. This charger doesn't have a Magic Dock. Nonetheless, Connected Navigation recognized it as a charger, and put the little charging station icon next to the remaining distance in the IPD, in my 2022 GT. I believe that there's no way to get Connected Navigation to use this station in the Trip Planner, since there's no toggle switch to indicate that I have a NACS Adapter, but nonetheless it's clear from the IPD that Connected Navigation knows it's a charger.
How did you "put the Kananaskis Tesla Charger in as a destination"? When I last paid for Ford Connected Navigation it wasn't finding Tesla Superchargers.

Not since I quit paying for Ford Connected Navigation. It no longer has the ability to search for chargers. However, when I last paid for it, Ford Connected Navigation didn't find Tesla Superchargers. Has that changed for early Mach Es? I have a 2021.

Has anyone else duplicated this finding?

You have to search for it as a POI. You cannot search for it as a charger. Best to set your search to the city (or along the route, not near me) and use the word "Tesla" or the word "Supercharger.

The routing algorithm and charging planning system will not use Superchargers. Nonetheless, if you navigate to them the same way you'd navigate to a restaurant, hotel, or museum, the little charger icon should appear in the IPD and you should get preconditioning like I did when I tested it.

Here's the discovery post about it https://www.macheforum.com/site/thr...rgers-connected-navigation.42532/post-1067780 they searched for a POI by name "Tesla" not searching for a charger.

It finds them for me. I had to manually search for “Tesla” the first time, select a supercharger, then flip the toggle that I have an adaptor in that charger’s details. Now, superchargers show up in charger search results.

Yes, you must have a newer model year.

This is true if you have a newer model or have received the new SYNC update that has the toggle. If neither of those are true for you, you can still get preconditioning to a Tesla supercharger it just requires a little bit more work. Hopefully everyone will start getting the SYNC update soon and the “cheat code” won’t matter anymore.

This issue remains.
My car: 2021 Job 1, fully paid connected Navigation, all Sync updates up to Software Update 12 installed
1. If I select "Chargers" in NAV, no Tesla chargers appear at all
2. If I search for "Tesla S" in the "Where To?" search box, nearby Superchargers appear and I can have the system navigate me to one. The issue here is it does not tell me if the Supercharger station is compatible with my adapter, and I know from experience that at least one it shows near my home is not.
3. If I program in a route, such as from my home near Phoenix to a hotel I use in Los Angeles, it will include planned charging stops along the route but NOT Tesla Superchargers. So I have to hope Tesla is near Electrify America or EV Go, or I have to ignore those planned stops, and manually perform number 2 above when I notice the GOM indicates I am getting close to the right distance travelled.

Tesla has been part of the Ford Charging Network for several years now. Nav should know this.

Yes. But look at the other thread where apparently since June 18 2026 people with 2021s are actually getting updates that fix this.
